Growing issue of mindless vandalism

ON our Liverpool City Region Covid19 Updates, on 6 January 2021 we highlighted the vandalism connected to Coronavirus restrictions, but these are just part of a growing issue of mindless vandalism taking place around the Liverpool City Region. We are getting reports of paint tins being thrown at houses and shop doors in St Helens area, to anti-lockdown graphite within Sefton, as well as in Liverpool City Centre. These photos, supplied by Cllr Thomas Hughes, show the damage to a subway in Maghull, leading to the Shopping Maghull Square Shopping Centre, under the Northway. In this case CCTV covers that area, but Maghull Town Council are still interested to hear from anyone who has any information about it. This type of vandalism comes at a cost, damaging the area and putting extra costs on those who have to clean it up, when cash is short. Some of it is political in nature, but even this costs an innocent party money that they can ill afford to spend, and courses damage.

2021 Census

DID you know that the 1st UK National Censuses took place in 1801, then they have been held every 10 years since. The most recent UK census to be released to the public is the 1911 Censuses. Now the 2021 Census is only weeks away.  This years Census will be of huge historical importance and will help historians for years to come, but also the Liverpool based team has told us that:- "Despite the backdrop of a Pandemic, Lock downs, Home Schooling, Furloughs and Post Brexit planning; the decennial Census is still on schedule to take place on 21 March 2021. Whilst the vaccination process will be in full swing; every member of the population in England and Wales will get a chance to 'stand up and be counted' in the decennial Census 2021. Completing the Census is critical, as the data has the power to make a real impact on our everyday lives. The data is used to plan services such as community organisations, Doctors' Surgeries, Hospitals, Schools and transport routes. The information is also used by charities for funding purposes. Households across Liverpool will soon be asked to take part in the once in a decade survey that gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every decade since 1908, with the exception of 1941. It will be the first done predominantly online, with households receiving a unique access code, allowing them to complete the questionnaire on their computers, phones or tablets. Paper copies are available for those who require them. Once the relevant Information is passed on for planning and life changing projects, as well as ancestry research; it is then locked away untouched for 100 years!! Confidentiality and security of this information is critical. A successful census will ensure everyone from Local Government to charities can put services and funding in the places where they are most needed. For further information on the Census; including possible part time jobs; please go to the website:- Census.Gov.UK or follow the 2021 Census devolvement's on both:- Twitter and Facebook."
