Family run business selling 'the best milkshakes and waffles in Merseyside' opens in Southport

A brand new family run independent business selling:- "the best milkshakes and waffles in Merseyside" has opened in Southport. The Shake Factory has gained a glowing reputation at its original store in Prescot in recent years, and has now opened its 2nd venture at 5B Hoghton Street right in the heart of Southport Town Centre.

Owner Phil Whitfield said:- "This the 2nd Shake Factory, the original is in Prescot and is now over 4 years old. The Shake Factory is an independent family business just off Chapel Street offering delicious, freshly made to order milkshakes, waffles, smoothies and cookie dough. Many believe the shakes and waffles are the best in Merseyside. We open seven days a week and we also deliver within 3 miles of the Southport Town Centre. We have 3 aims:-

Provide the best quality desserts.

Provide the best customer service.

Save customers money; our regular milkshake is everyone else's large!"

The Shake Factory is also giving young people a real chance to shine.

Phil Whitfield said:- "Scarlet, 18, is owner / manager at the forefront of the business with a young workforce behind her. We decided to open in Southport because we saw an opportunity to expand the business to the next level. The business model is that we employ the local people and give them opportunities to grow within our business. We are committed to giving young adults with initiative and energy a chance to excel. The average age of our workforce in both locations is 19 and we are committed to supporting their personal growth and helping them to develop into management if they wish. We hope to continue to develop the business model further and work with other Southport businesses and colleges to regenerate the Town Centre and give the people of Southport the desserts and employment they deserve."

Southport BID Business Engagement Manager Luke Randles said:- "Independent businesses have never been more vital to our Town Centres, and there has never been a more important time to support them. Southport is lucky to have an eclectic mix of independents, all with unique individual offerings, and run by passionate owners and staff. As Southport residents, we should do anything we can to champion these businesses."

The Shake Factory is open every day and can deliver to your doorstep.

Aldi colleague in Merseyside celebrates 25 years of service with a walk

AN Aldi colleague in Merseyside is celebrating a work anniversary milestone this month after working at the supermarket for 25 years. Neil Squire joined Aldi in 1996, starting as a Store Assistant at the Walsall store before progressing to Assistant Store Manager for 12 months. Neil is currently working at Aldi's Southport store, as Deputy Store Manager. Over the years he has helped to train many junior colleagues and managed a number of stores across Merseyside and the West Midlands, including Aldi's very 1st UK store, in Stechford. Neil has also gone above and beyond his typical store duties by taking part in a range of fundraising activities, including a sponsored 15 mile walk to help raise money for Aldi's dedicated charity, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Speaking about his long service, Neil said:- "Being part of the Aldi family for 25 years has been an absolute pleasure. I've learnt so much during my time here but my proudest achievement is knowing that over the years I've been able to pass on my knowledge and play a part in the development of other colleagues."

When asked about his favourite products at Aldi, Neil replied:- "anyone who knows me well knows how much I enjoy New Zealand Suavignon Blanc and Aldi's Freemans Bay always hits the spot!"

Ruth Doyle, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK said:- "Without the hard work and dedication of our store colleagues we wouldn't be able to provide customers with the unbeatable prices Aldi is known for. Colleagues like Neil are the cornerstone of our business and I thank him for his continued dedication throughout the last 25 years. Hopefully we work together for many more years to come."
