Liverpool ONE hosts fun filled themed Tickle the Ivories performances

VISITORS to Liverpool ONE will have the chance to enjoy all the fun of the circus, dance classics and home grown Scouse music, as part of Tickle the Ivories' latest round of themed performances. The much loved piano festival, which gives both amateurs and professionals the opportunity to showcase their skills on the keys, will host a series of specially curated performances throughout August, in collaboration with Open Culture. The month long schedule of performances has been curated by the Threshold Festival of Music and Arts, which ran for 10 years in the Baltic Triangle district of Liverpool.

The next themed week will be:- 'Dance,' running from 16 August to 22 August 2021; and the last event will be:- 'Liverpool' running from:- 23 August 30 August 2021.

Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director, at Liverpool ONE, said:- "We're thrilled to have the fantastic team from Threshold Festival on board to put together a series of exciting, themed performances for our visitors to enjoy. The upcoming weeks are all very different from each other and will certainly bring something very new to Tickle the Ivories this year. We have some incredibly talented artists who are all keen to perform after what's been a very difficult 18 months for us all, so we're looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere here at Liverpool ONE."

Now in its 11th year, Tickle the Ivories runs every summer at Liverpool ONE, bringing a taste of musical joy and happiness to visitors as they shop, dine and enjoy time with family and friends.

Due to Government lockdown restrictions, Tickle the Ivories was scaled back to just 2 pianos last year on its 10th Anniversary, making this year's event all the more special for everyone involved.

The 4 free to use pianos are located by:- Sugar House Steps outside John Lewis; on College Lane; in Peter's square and on Upper South John Street near Sports Direct, with all performers licensed to busk, meaning anything they earn, they keep.

Among the artists performing during Circus week is The Piano and The Hoop, a collaboration between aerial artist Stephanie Greer and musician Karen Wynne. The pair have created a performance especially for Tickle the Ivories on Sunday 15 August.

On Saturday, Liverpool based circus troupe:- 'Bring the Fire Project' will be in the spotlight, as well as artist Melanie Cornes and pianist Jess Harvey with the show:- "Marionetta," specially created for Tickle The Ivories.

Donna added:- "This year's Tickle has been more successful than we could have anticipated and has demonstrated very clearly how much we've all missed being out enjoying music and time with our loved ones. With restrictions lifting, it's been great to see our shops, bars and restaurants bustling with activity, so it made perfect sense to extend this year's event until the end of August. We're confident the themed performances will ensure that 2021's Tickle the Ivories is our very best yet and one which will never be forgotten!"
