Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2021 - Part 1
Photographs by Patrick Trollope

THE last 12 months have been devastating for sports, and its effects could be seen at the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, which ran over 19 August to 20 August 2021. The event was held at the Liverpool Cricket Club was not as big as normal, due to the funding issues, following the UK's Covid19 Lockdowns and the continued International Travel issues. Despite the problems, this event still managed to deliver 2 days fantastic of action, despite the rain on the 1st day. The event was very friendly, relaxed, and fun. A refreshing break from all the problems we have had over the recreant year. It was not just the very entertaining match on the Court that entertained the crowds, but also 2 Fashion Shows, with models that included 2 of the Tennis Players, plus Liverpool City Region - Poppy Gerard, Miss Merseyside - Elli Wilson, and Miss Popularity Liverpool - Chelsea Lea, to name a few. Also, live music was on offer within the VIP tent and more...

The show highlighted just how important it is to the local businesses and to the local sporting community, along with our local educational institutions. The event gave fantastic opportunities, from helping students at University to learn related trades, like those working with Holistic Realignment, to allowing ball girls and boys from local clubs to meet and see top-level players in action. This is not forgetting support it gives to the local economy, though allowing local businesses to be seen with big names, that normally they would never have the chance to be associated with. This is something we think, should be praised and encouraged with other events.

In the playoff on the final day, Beth Grey won the 2021 Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, Women's Singles Final, and James Ward beats Marcus Willis to become the Liverpool International 2021 Men's Singles Champion.

Do not miss the 20th Anniversary of this Tournament next year. To book tickets and find out more, keep an eye on:- LiverpoolTennis.Co.UK.  Part 2 will be in next week's issue... Don't miss the edition if you attended the event, as we might have you on-camera... We would love to know what you thought of this event.
