Morrisons to donate 15,000 lunchboxes daily to help School children in need

MORRISONS stores will join the national effort to ensure no School child in need goes without an adequate meal this ½ term.  Morrisons colleagues in 498 stores will prepare 30 lunch boxes in each of their stores this ½ Term. That's 14,940 lunches daily with packaging donated by distribution company Bunzl.  The lunchboxes will be distributed daily by each store to local food banks and Schools so they can get them to School children in need. The lunch box includes a freshly made sandwich, a piece of fruit and a Soreen snack pack. Morrisons is also to offer customers the option to support the effort by buying their own 'Pick Up Packs,' which will also be distributed to young people.  The packs' cost between ₤1 and ₤5 and contain a nutritionally balanced mix of food products that have been requested by the local food banks and Schools according to their needs. The pre-packed parcels are available at the front of all Morrisons stores and are paid for at the checkout. The pack is then put aside for delivery to those in need. Rebecca Singleton, Customer and Community Director at Morrisons, said:- "We want to do our bit to ensure that as many School children as possible can eat good, nutritious food while they are out of School. We will be delighted if customers are also able to donate food in our stores to help fight holiday hunger. For more information please visit:- Morrisons.Co.UK."

Motorists will need Green Card to drive in Europe after Brexit

ADMIRAL Car Insurance is reminding motorists that unless an agreement with the EU is reached beforehand, they will need a Green Card to drive their car in Europe from 1 January 2021. Without a Green Card, motorists run the risk of being denied entry at the country borders, being fined for not having proper insurance in place or potentially having their vehicle seized. Admiral, which offers Green Cards free of charge to its customers, is advising all motorists intending to take their car to Europe after 31 December to plan ahead and allow themselves at least 7 days to apply for their Green Card.  A Green Card proves a motorist has the minimum level of cover for 3rd party property damage and personal injury in countries that are part of the Green Card system. Drivers towing a trailer or caravan will need an additional Green Card to prove that the vehicle being towed is also properly insured. At the moment, you can drive your car in Europe without a Green Card, but this could change if there's no deal with the EU by the end of the year. A Green Card lasts for up to 90 days and can be applied for now; so can be sorted well in advance of any trips to be taken. You must have a hard copy of your Green Card with you, an electronic version on your smart phone or tablet isn't currently accepted by the Authorities. Admiral policyholders can apply online, motorists insured with other providers should check the process with their own insurer.

Clare Egan, Head of Motor Product at Admiral, said:- "As the UK prepares for the end of the transition period, and there still a real possibility that agreement won't be in place by 1 January, it's important for motorists to be prepared if they're planning to take their car to Europe. Having all the right protection and documentation before you travel will reduce any potential problems you could face at the border and reduce any last minute panic. At Admiral, Green Cards are free for policyholders. We recommend allowing a minimum of 7 days to apply for the card before you travel. From 1 January, motorists planning to drive in Europe will need to make sure they take their Green Card, their driving licence, their car's logbook and a copy of their car insurance certificate with them when they drive abroad. If you're taking your car to Europe before the end of the year, but will still be there after 1 January, you'll need to get your Green Card before you head off. If you don't have one and no deal is reached at the end of the year, you may be breaking the law and you might face a fine or your vehicle could be seized."

The new rules also apply to the Republic of Ireland and motorists who live in Northern Ireland, planning to drive in the Republic after 1 January 2021 will also need a Green Card. You can find out more about how car insurance is affected by Brexit here.

Admiral's checklist if you have an accident while driving abroad...

1. Take your documentation including your certificate of motor insurance, driving licence (including the paper part if you have 1) and the vehicle registration document with you.

2. Take a copy of the Agreed Statement of Facts on Motor Vehicle Accident with you (a European accident form which goes by different names in different countries). You can find a copy of this in English at:- CarTravelDocs.Com.

3. Ensure you have the contact details for your insurance company saved into your phone.

4. If you're involved in an accident, make a note of where the accident happened, including the date and time. Use your smartphone to see the exact location and take a screenshot.

5. Take pictures of the accident at a safe distance. Also take photos of the vehicles involved; make sure you have a good photo of the registration number on the front and back of all vehicles.

6. Don't leave the scene of the accident without making sure you have the other driver's contact details, including:- name, address and phone number. Also get their insurance details including the name of the company and policy number.

7. Don't sign anything unless you understand what you are signing. In European countries, you will be presented with the Agreed Statement of Facts on Motor Vehicle Accident. If you're involved in an incident with another driver, they will present you with the form. It's split into two sections and each driver involved is expected to complete it with their version of events. The English language version you take with you is for translation purposes only, it will help you understand each section of the form the other driver will give you. Make sure you get a copy of the Agreed Statement of Facts on Motor Vehicle Accident from the other driver.

8. Most importantly, remain calm, stay safe and phone your car insurer, and your travel insurer if you need onward travel.

9. Foreign cars in Europe have been targeted by criminals who force them to pull over by pretending that their car is damaged, or by pretending to be traffic Police. If another driver signals for you to stop, make sure you only do so if you're in a well lit, public area. If a driver asks to see any of your possessions, make sure you see their ID 1st.

10. A handbag, camera or laptop on display will be tempting to criminals. Keep it hidden. If you have an emergency other than a breakdown (such as an accident), you can call the 112 number which works in all the EU member states.
