Prime Minister
Boris Johnson tests positive again for Covid19
THE Prime Minister has again
tested positive after a 35 minutes meeting with Ashfield MP, Lee Anderson, on
Thursday, 12 November 2020. Lee Anderson since the meeting tested positive and
Mr. Johnson was later contacted by NHS Test and Trace, on Sunday, 15 November
2020, and tested. As a result, the PM is now self-isolating again, but not
showing symptoms. Following the departure of 2 of Mr. Johnson's top aides amid
an internal power struggle, this could not come at a worse time. The issues
coursed by the Pandemic are still overshadowing the fact Brexit is looming
without a deal, and with the clock ticking on having to decide what happens when
England's 2nd Lockdown, on 2 December 2020, this is bad news. Not only that, but
Mr. Johnson also has an upcoming spending review with an aim to fulfil his
promise to:- "build back better..." Plus, a host of other key
Covid19 meetings, looking at vaccines and working out other:- "critical
announcements," as Christmas approaches. Plus this latest news will also
likely shake up the financial markets yet again, making things even more
complex. Downing Street definitely now has its work cut out, especially that as
Mr. Johnson was extremely ill with Coronavirus earlier in the year and we do not
know what getting the virus does for a person's immunity, we are told that
conversations are now taking place with the parliamentary authorities to see
what can be done if the worse case happens. A spokesperson at Number 10 has said
to the media that:- "Boris Johnson will now have to stay at home in No 10 and
he will not be able to be in Parliament. But he is going to be working from
Downing Street and still intends to keep communicating with the country."
Boris Johnson has Tweeted:- "Today I was notified by NHS Test and Trace
that I must self-isolate as I have been in contact with someone who tested
positive for COVID-19. I have no symptoms, but am following the rules and will
be working from No10 as I continue to lead the Government’s pandemic response."
But an interesting question has been raised by Sefton MP, Bill Esterson, who
has also tweeted, saying:- "Johnson says the rules are the rules and he
has to self isolate. So why did he break the rules and hold a face to face
meeting where he was in contact with someone who was infected? Yet again the
Prime Minister undermines public trust in the measures needed to reduce
infection."
