Covid19 - worrying developments...

THE Pandemic is taking a worrying turn with India being hit by a Covid 'tsunami' as Hospitals run out of oxygen and people die in street. Also, the Japan's Government has declared a state of emergency for Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto amid rising Covid19 infections. Yet, in Hyde Park, London yet more protesting over lockdown and masks. This time just a few minutes away from St Mary's Hospital, where many patients with Covid19 have been admitted. Sadly this story keeps being repeated up and down the country. That includes a Political Party standing in the local elections, in some parts of the UK, calling for an end of all restrictions. Is it time we have a wake up call and a reality check? Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral is backdrop for bold climate action

THE projections on the City landmark illuminate Friends of the Earth’s call for candidates to prioritise the climate emergency in the elections on 6 May, and ask them to commit to delivering an ambitious Climate Action Plan. Friends of the Earth is calling on all candidates to mark Earth Day, by demonstrating what they will do for the region if elected. Friends of the Earth campaigner, Estelle Worthington, said:- "We used the Cathedral to full effect as backdrop to project the need to take climate change seriously and create much needed employment. Metro Mayors have critical powers at their disposal to fight the climate and ecological emergency. The climate crisis may seem a global problem, but the answer lies in our local communities. On 6 May 2021, we can all demand ambitious climate action for our City Region and a greener, fairer society for all."
