JUXTAPOSED PRODUCTIONS, a new up and coming theatre production company based in the North West have targeted Liverpool, the capital of culture to premier their new production, 'Jack and the Beanstalk-The Disco Panto', which is set to make theatre history and feature in the Guinness book of world records.

This new inter-active pantomime features all of the best-loved smash hits from the 1970's including 'Blame it on the Boogie', 'Hot Stuff', 'I Will Survive' and many more. Audience members are encouraged to raid their wardrobes and dig out their flares, tank tops and platforms and dance along to the disco beat in style. Prizes can be won at every single performance for the funkiest feller in flares or the most dazzling disco diva.

Juxtaposed Productions are set to receive the Guinness world record for having the largest pantomime cast in the world. The all-star cast including Brookside's Lance Powell, AKA Mickey Poppins and Jo Blakeway from Century 105.4FM lead the largest pantomime cast ever seen on stage.

This production also offers several other unique qualities including a 20ft high inflatable beanstalk and a heavily pregnant pantomime dame played by comic genius Jo Blakeway.

With a young cast, colourful costumes, extravagant sets and dancing in the isles, producer Daniel Wood says:- "If you do anything this Christmas go and watch this funky and festive panto! It's a must-do treat for all of the family."

Why not be apart of the record-breaking fun and watch the show on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day where full priced tickets are available on a buy one get one free offer. Alternatively you could wear your flares on Monday 22nd December at 7.30pm when there is free pre-show street entertainment including fire-eaters and stilt walkers to mark the opening night of this up-beat production.

The show runs from 22nd to 28th December at the newly re-furbished Liverpool Olympia Theatre on West Derby Rd (Next door to the Grafton Night Club). Over-60's join the war on crime

SOCIETY'S war on crime has a new army of supporters - all from the older generation. The charity Crimestoppers has joined forces nationally with retirement housing specialists McCarthy & Stone, raising further the level of security at its latest developments.

This is the first time that Crimestoppers Trust has teamed up with a company specialising in provision for older people - McCarthy & Stone builds about two-thirds of all Britain's private sheltered housing.

The initiative is designed to reduce residents' fear of crime as well as promoting Crimestoppers as phone number (0800 555 111) anyone can use to report crime anonymously without the risk of reprisals.

It will also be incorporated into future developments, which include Freshfield Road, Formby; and Telegraph Road, Heswell.

Crimestoppers, which is credited with helping to solve over 55,000 crimes in its 15 years of operation, will also arrange guidance to residents on how to improve their personal safety when outside their security-enhanced retirement apartments.

Keith Lovelock, Chairman of McCarthy & Stone, said:- "Our partnership with Crimestoppers is a natural one, given the emphasis we place on security at our developments. It will provide another highly visible means of deterring crime and showing how seriously we take the safety of our residents."

McCarthy & Stone has won numerous awards from local police for security awareness, often becoming the first in a town to build a development worthy of their "Secured by Design" seal.

"From the moment we start on a new development we will be showing the Crimestoppers logo on the hoardings around the building site to raise the public's awareness of the scheme,"
said Mr Lovelock.

"The Crimestoppers name will remain on signs placed at the main entrance and elsewhere around the outside of the building as a reminder of the need to be vigilant."

Private sheltered housing has an outstanding record of safety. Statistically, a purpose built retirement flat is 16.5 times less likely to be the target of a break-in or attempted burglary than conventional housing.

These will be among more than 100 new McCarthy & Stone developments around Britain to carry the Crimestoppers logo in the coming year.

Jane Reay, Crimestoppers Deputy Director of Operations, said:- "The success of Crimestoppers hinges on members of the community who call and pass on information anonymously about criminals and criminal activity.

The long term development of our unique schemes relies on supprt from companies like McCarthy & Stone who raise awareness of our work."
