Parish Council Election Results 2004.
-
- ON
the 22 January not only was it Chinese New Year, but it was the start of a new era for Formby as it
held it's first Parish Council Elections. One voter said
"It is very interest to me how badly advertised this
election was. Most people did not know about it
when spoke to them about it. It is sad to think Formby once had
it's own Urban District Council, that ended in 1974, and now we
start off yet again, some 30 years on, with a Parish Council. At lease we will have some independence
again from Sefton." Tom
of Harington Ward, full name and address
supplied, told
us.
The election was very poorly attended compared with other elections, but as newly elected Druscilla Haydon said:-
"This is only the first time a Parish Council election
has been held in Formby and other parish elections through
out the country do not get massive turn outs. For that reason
we can not judge the significance of the turn out we had on
the election day."
The duly elected Councillors for the Harington Ward, Formby Parish Council are as follows:-
1. Francis Patrick Sean Brady with 211 votes
2. Roland John Cawley with 228 votes
3. Michael Coles with 238 votes
4. Maureen Haydon with 180 votes
5. Stephen Paul Leddy with 212 votes
6. Clifford Walter Scott with 228 votes
7. Edward James Seddon with 226 votes
8. Charles William Southern with 211 votes
Only Shirley Elizabeth Sime was not elected getting 168 votes.
The number of ballot papers rejected was as follows:-
Rejected due to want of official mark were 0
Rejected due to voting for more candidates than voter was entitled to were 0
Rejected due to writing or mark by which voter could be identified were 0
Rejected due to being unmarked or wholly void for uncertainty were 2
Rejected due to rejected in part were 0
