- NEW PLAYGROUND OFFICIALLY OPENED
SMILES from children greeted the Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton, Councillor and Mrs. David Pearson officially unveiled a new playground at Victoria Park.
Youngsters from year two at Holy Trinity Primary School were the first to enjoy the new equipment after watching the Mayor cut the ribbon to declare the much needed facilities of the play area open.
The new playground, in the shape on a Viking longboat, features a wide range of equipment including swings, climbing frames, slides and roundabout with safety surfacing made from recycled tyres. Kettering-based Wicksteed Leisure has built the playground.
In opening the new playground, the Mayor said:- “This play area has been a long time coming but it looks really good. It is particularly pleasing as it is a result of a 106 Agreement as part of the Kingswood School development and at no cost to the community. I wish it every success which I’m sure it will be.”
- Tour de Force for Business Centre
MAJOR tour operator Travelscene is to expand its base in Liverpool, with the immediate creation of 17 more jobs, thanks to support from the Liverpool Business Centre.
The company, which is based in Harrow and currently employs 90 people nationally, specialises in short break holidays and has recently won contracts to run tours on behalf of Saga Holidays, P&O Ferries and News International.
The existing Liverpool operation, in James Street, faced stiff competition from centres in Belfast and Travelscene's Head Office in Harrow for this business, but the company finally decided upon Liverpool. This decision means the Liverpool base will have a staff of 28.
Joe Monfort, Managing Director of the Travelscene Group, said:- "We have won these important new contracts at a difficult time for many in the travel industry. We had options to place this new business at a number of existing centres, but have always had a high regard for our staff in Liverpool and their ability to deliver the quality of service we need."
Liverpool Business Centre supported Travelscene throughout the investment process, providing financial support and information to help the company in its final choice of location.

THE search is on for the most talented family in Merseyside, to take centre stage at Britain’s best circus.
Blackpool Tower and Circus has launched a nationwide search to find a family of true entertainers.
“We want Merseyside’s most talented family to top the bill at Blackpool Tower by giving a performance that circus lovers will really enjoy,”
says The Tower’s Geoff Sage.
“Dad might like to clown around, maybe mum juggles in more ways than one and the children might have a special gymnastic or musical talent.”
The lucky Merseyside family will be invited to a national final, to perform in front of a panel of circus experts at The Tower, and every family that enters will receive a family pass to the Tower.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of a circus show that features world class talent and its best line-up,”
adds Geoff.
Mooky’s Magical Tower Circus, voted the UK’s Best Circus for four years running, opens at Blackpool Tower on 3rd April and this year’s shows are set to be the most spectacular in The Tower’s 110 year history.
Families wishing to enter should send us their
