AS
the postal vote gets underway across the North West, we will be on the streets next week to get your views on what you think about it. This year it is an all postal vote and this means that you will automatically be sent ballot papers by post. We have been asked to run this small reminder to make your vote count.
Allow time to post your vote, as you must get your vote in by the Tuesday 10 June, no later than 10.00pm. If you do not receive your ballot paper by the 1 June than you should call the help line on 0151 233 3028 or email
electors@legal.sefton.gov.uk. For Sefton, you can hand deliver your ballot papers and receive assistance should you require it from Southport Town Hall on Lord Street and from Bootle Town Hall on Oriel Road. They are open from Monday to Saturday 1 June to the 9 June, from 9am to 5pm and Thursday 10 June from 7am to 10pm. For full instructions as to how to cast your vote, see the instructions inside the letter. Warning, read very carefully. Anyone who knows you can witness your declaration, but remember to separate your papers before you get it witnessed. It is a crime to see how another voter has voted. The vote comes in two sections A and B.
A is for your ballot paper. Make sure the number and bar code on the reverse is shown in the window before you seal it.
Part B is for your ballot paper envelope. You should be very careful that when you place A into B, that envelope A does not cover the address on the reverse of the declaration. The declaration address (on the back) should clearly be seen through the window of B and then the envelope sealed after the declaration has been filled in.
DO NOT ALLOW anyone else to open your ballot papers and do not get anyone other than yourself to fill it in. If you need help, ring the helpline or call in to your town hall. Also it is an offence to complete a ballot paper addressed to someone else, so if you get a ballot paper delivered that is not yours, return it to the elections office or call 0151 934 20 39 as soon as possible for assistance.
