- THE
QE2 VISITS LIVERPOOL
- Photographs taken
on land by Patrick Trollope.
THE amazing spectacle of the QE2 was seen again on the Mersey. The impressive 70,327 Gross Tonnage vessel still impresses the crowds and pulls them in from near and far.
She boasts 5 restaurants and 2 cafes, 3 swimming pools, a pub, night-club and several bars, 481 seat cinema, Casino, Shopping Promenade and a branch of Harrod's, Health Club, Beauty Salon, Library, Hospital even a Computer Learning Centre! But to onlookers she is a stream-lined and fantastically crafted bit of British history that is loved by all. It is hoped that this visit will be one of many to come from 'Her Majesty of the Waves', but only time will tell. James who is 83 and from Liverpool commented to us,
"She is a beautiful sight and one I hope to see again in my lifetime."
Mrs Clayton said, "The ship is a magnificent sight on the Mersey. We Liverpudlians love to see her come in to port. She brightens up the weather every time she comes into Liverpool. I just hope the passengers brought their sun tan lotion with them."
West Lancashire Microlight School's Nick Rummery, who flew over her said,
"I love the QE2 as she offers excellent photographic opportunities. From the air she looks so big, it is amazing. A really magnificent piece of engineering and it amazes me to look down on her and think that she has 2,915 passengers and crew on board. She is a work of art and a classic British one at that."
