WE went round the show to find out what people thought of it and these are some of the many remarks we got.

Two boys aged 9 and 6 who were enjoying the show said in reply to the question, "What did you like best?" they replied "The rugby display in Turfland the football display in the big tent. We want to see the dog show. Their mother commented, "Good, lots for the kids to do and see - play area and circus skills; we've had a good day."

From Blackpool, 5 year old Brandon loved the chess best. He wanted to buy a cactus to take home and Charlie Chaplain near the bandstand was 'brilliant'. Several adults added comment that although they appreciated the games area, they would have preferred it to be a secured area like a park where parents could just sit and watch their children playing.

An Ainsdale person with very young children remarked that the play area was a very good idea.

To a Leigh visitor "Many Happy Returns, Ann!" (whose birthday it was on Sunday.) One member of this Greater Manchester party who was in a wheelchair stated that despite the weather, which made it hard going in places, she managed to get around well. All were "having a lovely time". They were all first time attenders. Compared to Tatton Park "This is smaller and it's easier to get around. We like both."

A prize-winner from Burscough (florist- 5 bridal pieces) "Sunday is the only day we can come. We really appreciate the Sunday opening. Well worth coming." Other people also commented favourably on Sunday opening.

The comment of visitors from Maghull (late comers) was, "We came looking for ideas for our own garden. We liked the big gardens."

A Birkdale mother of a 4-year-old said:- "Really enjoying it. There's plenty to entertain the children, mixed with the serious, the plants and everything."

A lady from Heysham made the remark, "Really good show this year. I've not been for 2 years but I missed going on holiday to Wales just to be here this year. Definitely worth it."

Two boys, 7 and 9, from Stockport answered that their favourite bits were "Sweets" and "Cacti". Their mother said that it was their first visit. "We're enjoying it." Another adult commented that he had found the £1, 'park and ride' sign on the approach road misleading when the real charge was £4!

11years old Holly's view was:- "Its nice. Lots to do, unusual flowers and flowers from different places like Africa. I like the lilies and the cactus.

Will buy something but not sure what."

An OAP from Formby exclaimed... "Excellent, well up to past standards. Duck boards in the tents would have helped, but I'm impressed with the ease of getting around all the exhibits and stalls."
