- Danger
On Formby By Pass.
DEAR
editor... "Over
the last year, work has been carried out on the Formby By
Pass and on the Coastal Road to improve safety. Sadly the
junction to the Coastal Road has become a danger ever
since. When it rains massive amounts of water flood onto
the junction and it will not be long before a serious accident
happens. Why did the council get rid of the drainage ditch,
that ran along the side of the Coastal Road and the entrance to the
caravan park?" Joanna
Kinston.
Thank you for your
letter. We took a look this week and agree that this
problem and that it is getting worse. Just after taking
photographs of the problem, a drain cleaner came and pumped most of
the water away. But with in half an hour it was
back. The ditch was taken away to allow the extension of
the road junction to the caravan park. We had a look to see if
a ditch was made in the woods, but we could not see one.
We will be contacting the council next week on this
issue. Our advice is the same as many organisations
would give. In rain keep your speed down and expect to
see cars and other road users avoiding floods by changing lanes suddenly.
It is not only the the
Formby By Pass. Roads all over Sefton have been experiencing
problems. Even Formby the Village Center was flooded out a few
weeks back. Roads all around the BP Garage in Formby are often
flooded as you can see in the pictures above and below.

Comp to win two ticket to Fashion Show FORMBY'S
Gill Fell is opening a new and exciting business.
Gill is well known for putting on fashion shows and running business
PR and support groups. But she felt something was missing in
her life, so she decided to put her skills into a new
idea. That idea is a web site called secondelegance.com.
It is aimed at giving the public the opportunity to buy and sell used designer clothes on-line and
through local Fashion shows.
Locally businesses have been really supportive, Shirley Reece from Reece recruitment said:-
"It's a great idea and I wish Gill all the very best with the venture"
Gill is now taking clothes in every size for the first show on 4 November.
Gill told us:- "I have been asked for every size from a small 8 to a 22, ladies, mens and
childrens, as long as the clothes are in really great condition then I will take them to sell, they don't have to be a well known designer as long as they are really nice clothes, at this time winter clothes and evening dresses would be great, locally businesses are really helping especially The Venue hair salon, Pure Image, Tone Zone and Gosh shoes, they are all selling the tickets for the Fashion Show, which by the way is in aid of Breast Cancer Care"
The web site for second elegance will be on line from 4th November - www.secondelegance.com and those who come to the fashion show will become priority members who will get to see all the new fashions before they go on-line.
Tickets to the show are £9 and this includes a welcome drink and a light supper, the raffle is in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
