THE LIGHTS GO ON

SOUTHPORT Christmas lights went on early this year. TV Personality Craig Phillips was on hand on Sunday 7 November, to help bring a sparkle to the town, by switching on the town's festive display. He was joined on a stage, which was specially built in the Princess Diana Gardens, by Dune FM's John Cooper, The Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton, Cllrs Cliff and Sylvia Mainey along with the real star, Father Christmas.

The switch on followed an amazing and colourful display of entertainment comprising bands playing on the stage and a large parade which rolled it's way through the town.

Southport Lights Campainer and Southport Champion Editor, Martin Hoveden, said:- "Each year it just get better and better. We would like to thank all who took part and we wish them and the town 'A Very Happy Christmas'."

We will let our photos tell the rest of the story.

The next big turn on will be Formby Lights on Thursday 18 November.
