Council is Putting the customer first...
PLANS to
modernise the way the public can use Council services have been
given the green light.
A new town centre 'one stop shop', a telephone contact centre
and increased use of Internet transactions are all planned as part
of a strategy aimed at giving residents greater choice in how they
access information and Council services.
The strategy, approved by the Council's Executive Board on Monday 3
April 2006, is aimed at both giving a more effective response to
residents' needs and bringing together customer service staff who
currently work in a number of contact centres across the authority.
The plan follows significant and detailed work over a number of
months including extensive research with residents and visits by
Councillors and Officers to a number of other local authorities
across the country to look at best practice elsewhere. This was
followed by a consultation programme, aimed at finding out how
Warrington residents would want to contact the Council in the
future.
The strategy is aimed at getting the right information to customers
first time, directing the public clearly towards services or
buildings, providing specialist training to staff and increasing the
number of transactions using the Council's website.
The telephone contact centre will have extended opening hours, from
8am to 6pm weekdays and Saturday mornings and the public will have
just three or four phone numbers to access a whole range of Council
services.
Staff will be set an objective of dealing successfully with 80% of
residents' enquiries at the first point of contact.
The strategy is expected to take around three years to implement and
is seen as a key part of the Council's modernisation programme.
SUMMER 2006 TAKES OFF FOR JET2.COM
JET2.COM, on
Friday 7 April 2006 truly stamped its seal of approval on Blackpool
Airport. The airline is so pleased with the sales they have already
experienced that they have launched Summer 2007 flights already,
with scorching prices from £39.99!!! This comes as inaugural flights
take off this week to the Spanish hotspots of Palma, Alicante and
Murcia.
The move sees Jet2.com become the first low cost carrier in the UK
to be on sale for Summer 2007 and will mean that flights to Palma
and Alicante will both be extended to Daily services whilst Murcia
will become a four weekly service.
The airline’s decision to base the 148 seat B737 at Blackpool
International will also be further endorsement of how it is fast
becoming a key regional airport in its own right following Jet2.com
announcing late last year it would be the first major airline to use
the airport as a base.
Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com, said:- “We are really excited
about our future at Blackpool Airport and hope our launch of Summer
2007 further enforces this. Our decision to launch a base at the
airport last November has been consistently supported by our
customers and we look forward to continuing our expansion from the
airport to many more low cost destinations. In the meantime we urge
the many overseas property owners and sun seekers of the North West
to book early, we know demand will be high.”
Gareth Kennedy, Director of Business Development at Blackpool
International Airport, said:- “To have a major low cost
airline based at Blackpool forms an integral part of our strategy
for future growth and investment and represents a major step forward
for the airport.
Not only has it generated a number of new jobs for both the airline
and the airport but it also demonstrates Jet2.com’s commitment to
Lancashire and the North West.
I would like to offer a warm welcome to all the new members of staff
who will be working with Blackpool International Airport and wish
them well for the future.” For more information
