 Downtown Week 2006

DOWNTOWN Week is only three weeks away and will be held on 11 June to 18 June 2006. Downtown Week has been established as a platform and tool to celebrate the fascinating place that is downtown Liverpool, to encourage as many people as possible to come downtown and to generate a unique marketing tool to aid growth of business and cultural activity at ‘the heart of the UK’s most exciting city’.

Every year a week in June will be designated Downtown Week. We intend to build the week into a vital annual tool for the city’ entrepreneurs, creatives and institution to use.

Though the week is primarily a celebration of everything that we currently have downtown and a call for people to use these, the group have encouraged extra activities to be hosted during the week so as to provide an extra attraction and give media more specific angles to highlight. A current list of this year’s extra events can be viewed at:-
www.downtownweek.info/events.htm

Not only do these extra activities generate extra visits, it also allows ideas to be tested that can enrich the long term offer of downtown, leading to increased activity and interest year round. It also provides an extra opportunity to generate extra activity amongst those areas that already have one specialised festival at other times in the year (e.g. Food & Drink Week or the festival of shopping can, in effect have another festival for their sector within the wider designated ‘Downtown Week', So please pop on down to the events and show your support for our city.

Spokesperson for the volunteer group, Tony Siebenthaler said:- “Downtown Week is an excellent opportunity to increase business, generate more visitors and celebrate the unique vibe that makes Liverpool such a special and exciting place amongst cities around the world”

Get a Date With Speed Dating in Southport

SPEED Dating is the dating craze that is here to stay. In the busy world we all live in, and with the hectic lives many of us lead, meeting 25 potential partners in one evening is very appealing. At a 4 minutes event you have a series of mini dates throughout the evening, after each date ticking yes, no or maybe in the box next to each date. If you match with someone your details are forwarded to each other and it is then up to you if you take it any further.

Events are fun and friendly and at last there is a method of meeting new people which has become socially accepted, most Speed Daters are attractive, normal, hard working people who love this new way of social networking. They come from all walks of life and there are different age categories.

Like all Speed Dating events the biggest challenge is getting the male places filled, but once gents attend once they have such a great time, they come again, unless of course they meet there dream partner. The events are not just about speed dating but a great social event too.

Our events in Southport are at the perfect venue, Bar Velvet on Coronation Walk. It is a stylish and classy venue, and we have exclusive use of the upstairs bars.

Our first event in Southport is on Monday 5 June for the 38 to 55 age group, and on Monday 12 June we are holding a double event for the ages 21 to 35 and 28 to 45 which includes an after date party till late.

Events will then run regularly on Monday Nights in Southport, and throughout the North West in Preston, Manchester, Lancaster, Kendal and Wigan.

4 Minutes is the brain child of Southport resident Phil Todd who many will know from his time presenting on local radio and as a DJ in the resorts nightclubs. The website can be found at:- www.4minutes.co.uk and if you would like more details call Phil on 0845 641 0601 (local rate)
