This
film is meant to be based on true
events. “The Mothman Prophecies” examines a series of inexplicable occurrences through the eyes - and mind - of one man.
Another good
film.... I still want to give a one star
rating, but can't on this one. It is a really
interesting suspense-filled thriller! The film
starts off as a very normal horror film style, but
soon turns very stylistic X-Files style. At
some points I expected Mulder to appear with
Scully! The film sees a journalist called John Klein
(Richard Gere) who is driven to extremes to
investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding
his wife’s death. He sets out to find out
what the connection is, if any, with the strange phenomena in a town four hundred miles
away in West Virginia, called Point Pleasant. He
teams up with Sgt. Connie Parker (Laura Linney) a
local cop who lives in Point Pleasant, as she is at
a loss to explain what is going on. For John, it’s a race against time to figure it out – and try to prevent something terrible from
happening, but what is? The film does plod on
at times so it loses a star with our system for
that, but if you like Horror, well then Forget 13 Ghosts,
this is what you've been waiting for over the last
year! 3
out of 5 as it has limited appeal to some viewers.
