Churches Together 2007
Walk Of Witness, Formby
AN estimated 2000 people attended
the event that was to mark the Crucifixion of Jesus
Christ on the Cross. The traditional walk of witness set
off from the Formby Library car park and snaked its way
around and into the village. Whereas in previous years
the worship comprised a few hymns, prayers, and a
sermon, this year’s service was accompanied by a
fantastic visual interpretation of the sermon.
The guest
speaker was Bishop Tom Williams and the opening prayers
and peace were conducted by June McGibbon. Readings were
given by Peter Connor and Jean Cox. Closing prayers were
led by Janice Hill. The hymn singing was ably supported
by a music group involving members of local churches.
The FCT would like to say:- “We would like to
thank all the musicians, singers and children who took
part in the sermon. And a big thank you has to Andy and
his team for their PA system; also a massive thanks to
out local police officers. Without these people, this
event could not have been as big a success as it has
been.”
After the service Holy Trinity Church
served tea and coffee with Hot Cross Buns in their
church workshop.
