The
Ainsdale Flower Show 2007
ON Saturday, 7
July 2007 the annual Ainsdale Flower Show was held yet again. This
event, which is run by the Ainsdale Horticultural Society is
probably the oldest one day show of its type in the North West. It
was the 87th show and what a show it was this year, with lots of
stalls, a children's tent with exhibits of art classes, handicrafts,
horticulture, models, poetry and photography.
Also on the show ground was a large floral marquee, a children's pet
show, competitions and displays in an arena from gymnastics to dog
displays... brass bands and much more. There was also a parade
through Ainsdale. The event was attended by the Mayor of Sefton,
Cllr. Richard Hands and the Mayoress. The show nearly did not run
this year though after the large marquee had been flattened in the
high winds a few days previously and vandals had struck on the same
night, wrecking one of the tents. Despite this the show went ahead
and was one of the best yet. The good weather on the day was an
added bonus.
