REWARDS ON OFFER TO LIVERPOOL 10K RUNNERS

THE race is on to find local people prepared to run in the Liverpool 10K race in a few months time and raise funds for a major charity as it continues to search for cures for muscle disease, which can often cause severe disability or, in many cases, can greatly shorten life expectancy.

As part of its ‘Big Push’ 2007 appeal, the Regional Office of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is asking readers to enter the race and help push up the awareness of muscle disease by getting sponsored for running. In return, everyone who raises funds can claim some great sportswear rewards and a top quality running vest to show their support for the charity during the race.

Says Charles Horton, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign Regional Fundraising Manager, “We need as many people as possible to enter the Liverpool 10k and raise funds if we are going to beat this disease. It’s a great way to help others and will help us push up the amount we can spend on research. Why not join us in our Big Push to find a cure for muscle disease”.

The Liverpool 10K race takes place on Sunday 7 October 2007, starting at 10am. For an entry pack call the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign Regional Office on 01244 403012 or email.

The Liverpool Skyline from 101 feet!

THE Stroke Association is offering Merseyside residents the chance to see the county from 101 feet by abseiling Leasowe Lighthouse in Moreton on the Wirral on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October 2007.  Abseilers will be able to admire stunning views over land and sea and even spot Liverpool Cathedral as they step down the 101 feet curved outer wall of the Lighthouse. A rush of adrenaline is guaranteed for both novices and experienced abseilers alike.

Louise Elliott, Regional Fundraising Manager, explains:- ‘This is a great opportunity to take a team challenge with friends, family or colleagues. You can abseil in the attire of your choice. Perhaps your company t-shirts or even fancy dress! On top of this, you can choose your favourite track to abseil too! Perhaps this is the chance you’ve always wanted to dress as Spiderman, abseil as Spiderman while being accompanied by the Spiderman theme tune!’

Registration for the Abseil is just £10.00 and all we ask is that you raise a minimum of £75 in donations from your friends, family and work colleagues. We will also send you a fabulous fundraising pack to help you on your way. No experience is necessary as full training will be given on the day.  Places are strictly limited, so call the Abseil Hotline now on 07799 436 011 to register. Alternatively, you can email Louise Elliott  for more information.

Each year around 150,000 people in the UK will have a stroke. It is the UK’s 3rd biggest killer and the leading cause of serve adult disability. Funds raised by this event will help The Stroke Association work towards a world where there are fewer strokes and those affected by stroke get the help and support they need.
