Charity Band Night in memory of Danny Curran
WHAT a
fantastic night in memory of Danny Curran! A variety of local
talent was on shown at The Albert, in Southport on Saturday, 19
January 2008 despite the bad weather. Interestingly the event
was delayed due to bad weather, but it did not dampen the spirits as
the gig got underway. Taking to the stage first was Damaged Goods,
whose singer the event was dedicated to. Sadly for Damaged
Goods, it was also to be the last time the band was to perform and
they did a fantastic exit, one that Danny would have been proud of.
Then it was Same Old Mondays who took to the stage, swiftly followed
by Sons of Mod, the bands had a huge contrast of styles, but both as
talented. Then after a quick bit of food, a charity auction
was held and Martin Hovden of the Champion soon got the bids coming
in. Ending the night was cjd, Southport's answer to mad cow disease.
Their wacky sense of dirty and often offensive humour made
interesting viewing of the audiences reactions. The night
raised a staggering £450 pounds for the Southport Kidney Fund and
they would like to thank all who donated prizes and everyone who
took part.
