Bin Man To Represent UK!!!!!!

ON 1 March 2008, it was the UK's night for voting-in its Eurovision 2008 entries and six acts, split into three categories, went head-to-head live on BBC1. Competing at the event was Southport's Aimee Kearsley (aged 22), formerly of Clea, and Emma Beard from Northampton (aged 24) who made up a pop duo called LoveShy. Despite their good performance, both were knocked-out by the judges who did not put them through to the public vote section. One of the judges said they where "Too poppy for Eurovision."

In the end it was a Bin Man, called Andy Abraham, in a public vote, which was a make-up for his loosing out to Shayne Ward in the 2005 X Factor final. Andy Abraham also beat the former EastEnders actress Michelle Gayle with his song 'Even If'.

We hope Aimee and Emma will not be put off by this and that they keep an eye on what their fans are saying on the web.

The Dil Pickle Opens!

FORMALLY the Ship & Anchor Pub, on Cable Street, Southport, the Dil Pickle opened its doors to its punters on Saturday, 1 March 2008.

We headed on over to the privet opening night on Thursday, 28 February 2008, to see what they have to offer. The venue inside has not changed all that much, layout wise, but it has been given a full cleaning and new furniture...  Thankfully gone are the horrible green benches and the wonky tables!

If you remember the good old days of Flava when it was by the band stand on Lord Street, well that is much the same as to what is now on offer at the Dil Pickle.  Funky music and a bistro food menu...  Pop art on the walls and a relaxed atmosphere.

We will let the photos tell you the rest... We wish all the staff at the Dil Pickle - good luck!
