VESTY BUSINESS PARK TOPS OFF GREEN CREDENTIALS IN BOOTLE
IT was
announced on 6 May 2008 that, Priority Sites, have reached a major
milestone on the development of its £14 million Vesty Business Park
this week, and cemented the scheme’s green credentials, with the
erection of a landmark wind turbine on the site. The
energy-generating turbines, which are also being installed on the
scheme’s 21 individual business units, will provide 10% of the
development’s entire energy supply.
The 155,000 sq ft commercial park on Bridle Road is due for final
completion in June and is already proving popular with Merseyside
businesses keen to embrace a green agenda. Prior to completion, the
developer has announced 30,000 sq ft of the high quality commercial
space is already under offer.
Vesty Business Park, which will create around 360 jobs for the local
area, is the national developer’s largest scheme to date. In
addition to the use of renewable energy sources, the developer has
committed to an extensive tree-planting programme and laid out a
green travel plan for occupiers. The scheme is on track to achieve a
‘very good’ BREEAM rating, the Industry standard which measures the
efficiency of energy usage in new buildings.
Area development manager for Priority Sites, Murray Carr,
commented:- “There is an increasing demand for commercial
accommodation that responds to the environment, and it is vital that
both developers and occupiers take strides towards reducing their
carbon footprint.
We have worked closely with InvestSefton and the council to bring
the ‘green’ scheme forward, and we are very encouraged by the market
interest. We have found that by providing high quality commercial
premises that meet the demands of the modern business and also
utilise renewable energy sources, we can help environmentally
conscious businesses to operate more efficiently without
compromising on productivity.”
Later this year, Priority Sites will start work on an £11 million
‘green’ office development, Senate Business Park, also on Bridle
Road, to complement the existing commercial premises on offer at
Vesty Business Park. The 80,000 sq ft Senate Business Park
development will boast similar green credentials. Along with other
energy efficient design, the scheme will incorporate 10% on site
renewable energy through the use of ground source heat pumps.
Priority Sites has so far completed 255,000 sq ft of quality
commercial accommodation across the North West, most recently at
Turnstone Business Park, Widnes and Brookfield Business Park,
Aintree, creating over 500 jobs along the way. The company has a
further 250,000 sq ft of development currently in the pipeline for
2008/09 and is firmly on track with the delivery of £50 million
investment programme for the North West region.

opened nearly three years ago, the use outside of these hours has
been minimal. We do not anticipate that there will be any disruption

LIVERPOOL BAKERS RISE TO THE CHALLENGE FOR NATIONAL DOUGHNUT WEEK
2008
BAKERS in
Liverpool and St Helens are gearing up for National Doughnut Week
with some sweet, indulgent fundraising activity in aid of disabled
children.
Through the sale of doughnuts, from the 10 May to 17 May 2008,
participating bakers across Liverpool and St Helens, will be helping
to raise money for The Children's Trust, a national charity which
provides care, education and therapy for children with multiple
disabilities and complex health needs.
Wendy Ainsley of Townsend Bakery in Liverpool and St Helens
anticipates another great week this year, having participated every
year since it began. The store has built up something of a
tradition, unveiling an exclusive, limited edition doughnut each
year. This year's special treat will be a star shaped doughnut with
sprinkled-top icing. Past flavours have included Chocolate, Orange
and Blueberry - which was such a hit that it became a permanent
product in store! "We always get the store nicely decorated to
draw customers in," says Wendy. "Every year has been a
success and we are all looking forward to another fund-raising week
in 2008".
With the help of the kind-hearted public to support this fun event,
sponsored by BakeMark UK, the aim is to raise as much money as
possible. Money raised from this annual fundraising campaign will
help to enhance the lives of some of the UK's most severely disabled
children.
One of the Children's Trust's fundraising appeals aims to raise over
£7 million to build a national rehabilitation centre for children
with acquired brain injuries. Last year, just over 600 bakery
outlets across the UK took part, raising almost £40,000. This year,
BakeMark hopes to raise £50,000 towards the appeal.
"National Doughnut Week is a great way to make a difference to
the lives of disabled children and their families. The money raised
by the sale of doughnuts is used to fund specialist services,
equipment and staff to help these children enjoy a better quality of
life, and we are very grateful to everyone who takes part."
says Liz Haigh-Reeve, Director of Fundraising at The Children's
Trust.
There are lots of fun ways to raise money: holding a doughnut
morning; taking on a doughnut-eating challenge with friends/ work
colleagues, or simply by holding a doughnut-themed event.
National Doughnut Week has the support of popular TV personality
Ainsley Harriott and celebrity chefs Brian Turner and Simon Rimmer.
