British Diabetic
Association Summer Fair
2008
SOUTHPORT, Formby and Ormskirk
branch of the British Diabetic Association held a summer fair over
21 July to 22 July 2008, on Formby’s Duke Street Park. The
event was to raise funds for the Association.
Peter Wright, local organiser and
founder member told us that they wishes to thank all participants
and visitors for their support. Peter has been involved for 14 years
now and knows at first hand just how valuable the mutual help and
support of fellow members can be.
We popped in to see the car boot sale on the Sunday to take a look
at what was on offer. At the show we met up with Peter
who told us that the organisation prides itself in keeping in touch
with the latest in modern treatment for diabetics world wide. He
also informed us that the local Children’s Diabetic Club meets
regularly for events and outings. Anyone interested can make
contact on 01704 870759.
The day was well attended. On offer were plenty of goods for sale, a
good range of fairground rides and stalls, especially for children,
refreshments and activities including a dog competition, as well as
Morris Dancers from all round the region, even as far away as
Wrexham. St John Ambulance was on hand to help where needed.
Bright sunshine was a welcome adjunct to
the day and people were evidently enjoying themselves. Every bit of
revenue raised helps this good cause. Congratulations on a well
organised event.
