NO
SEX PLEASE, WE’RE SNACKING!
OUR national
obsession with food may be damaging our love lives, according to
shocking to new research.
A third of British women admit that they’d rather have a snack than
sex with their partner, according to the survey of 2,000 people
carried out by Fridge Raiders chicken bites.
One in three women – and nearly half of the men questioned - said
they’d rather snack than even chat to their partner! The
research also reveals that nearly 70% of British women spend more
time thinking about food and snacks than sex but – rather
revealingly – 70% of men think about sex more than food (maybe
because they’re not getting any…)
A spokesperson for Fridge Raiders which commissioned the survey
says:- “It would seem that British women prefer to nibble on
snacks than on their partners!
Maybe couples should do their snacking together – it may always lead
to something more interesting…!”
The survey also reveals some interesting snacking behaviour. Over
half of those questioned (51%) said that despite the danger of
crumbs, they enjoy snacking in the bed and – rather more worryingly
– nearly one in three nibble whilst driving.
Forty eight percent also admit that they regularly snack at work –
with this figure rising to a whopping 70% amongst secretaries!

PEOPLE IN MERSEYSIDE URGED TO SIGN UP FOR THE START LINE
MEN and women
in Merseyside are being urged to move quickly to take up the
challenge to Run 10k for Cancer Research UK at
Birkenhead Park, as places are filling up fast for the event on
Sunday, 12 October 2008.
"The course goes through such a beautiful location and is
proving extremely popular, with hundreds of people have already
signed up. We want to warn people that they will
have to be quick to secure their spot on the starting line.
Running 10k is a good target for many people with a bit of training
and completing the distance will give them a great sense of
achievement. The Birkenhead Park Run 10k event will raise
vital funds towards Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking research,
and is a perfect opportunity to get into the great outdoors and help
in the fight against cancer." said Esther Hartas, Cancer
Research UK’s Run 10k organiser for Birkenhead Park.
This year, Cancer Research UK, supported by Tesco, is hoping that
50,000 men and women nationwide will Run 10k and raise just over £5
million to help fund the charity’s world-class research.
There are 41 events in stunning and unique locations across the UK
and Cancer Research UK’s website aims to provide training support to
ensure participants cross the finish line with a huge smile.
The second annual event to be held at Birkenhead Park hopes to see
800 people taking part, raising more than £38,000.
Over £28,000 was raised at last year’s event and this has gone
towards the charity’s life saving research work. Patients with
oesophageal cancer are being recruited in Liverpool for a national
Cancer Research UK-funded clinical trial. The researchers are
comparing giving two different combinations of chemotherapy drugs
before surgery, to find out which is the most effective treatment.
Cancer Research UK is also funding a range of pioneering studies at
The University of Liverpool. These include fundamental research
investigating the genes and molecules involved in the development of
cancer, which will pave the way for future treatments. A number of
studies are also focused on finding ways to improve the treatment of
pancreatic cancer.
Esther Hartas added:- "We need local people to rise to the
challenge of taking part in Run 10k and to help us continue our
life-saving work. This is why we’re urging people in
Merseyside to come and join us and to challenge their friends and
family to take part with them."
