THE Hard Days
Night Hotel Gallery in association with Turner Fine Arts are proud
to announce that the first public exhibition of the work of the
celebrated micro-sculpturist, Willard Wigan MBE has started in
Liverpool on 28 August 2008 and it will be running until 30
September 2008.
The Willard Wigan
tour has been met with unprecedented reviews around the country,
with each venue having to extend the time this unbelievable
collection of art has been at each venue.
Leisure entrepreneur and former tennis star, David Lloyd purchased
the 70 piece collection in May 2007, which was subsequently valued
by Lloyds Insurers for £11.2m. This makes each piece worth
about £160,000.
The exhibition at the
Hard Days Night Hotel features 22 pieces from the collection.
To whet the appetite.
The artwork is so minute that it is barely visible to the naked eye.
The work will be housed in easy to view cases including microscope
lenses trained on the work. Images are available at
www.harddaysnighthotel.com and
www.willard-wigan.com, but a
full understanding of the intricacies of this work can only be
achieved through a viewing "in the flesh".
The exhibition
incorporates various works including the Lloyds of London building
created on a pin head. The piece, which is made from white
gold and platinum, was recently bought for £94,000 at auction.
The exhibition will commence on 28 August 2008, concluding 30
September 2008.
This is Wigan’s first public exhibition for five years. Many
have described Wigan’s work as:- "the 8th wonder of the
world." Hotel and Gallery proprietor, Jonathan Davies comments that:-
"This is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Liverpool to view
the work of this incredible artist, who has been described by many
as a genius. It is a priviledge that we have been able to
secure such a man who through the remarkable nature of his work has
touched so many."

Beatles Story announces The Beatles in India festival!
WHEN The
Beatles became interested in Indian religion it not only had a
profound effect on their music, but influenced both the look, sound
and outlook of Western culture as a whole. To celebrate the
huge impact the country had on the Fab Four, the Beatles Story,
Liverpool will be celebrating all things Indian throughout September
during our ‘Beatles in India Month’.
A new display, fact sheets and trivia boards will allow visitors to
the Beatles Story to learn more about the effect The Beatles’ 1968
visit to the Maharishi’s Meditation Academy in Rishikesh had on both
their music and personal lives, as well as such amusing tales as how
Ringo coped with India’s spiders and why John went up in a
helicopter with the Maharishi!
A number of Indian-themed children’s workshop will take place in the
Beatles Story’s new Discovery Zone as well as a special treasure
trail involving tigers, monkeys and peacocks!
The weekend of 20 September to 21 September 2008 will see two days
of Indian themed events including Indian head massage, Starbucks
Indian coffee tasting, yoga and Bollywood dancing demonstrations, as
well as a meditation and chanting session from Hare Krishna
devotees.
Fantastic Indian food
supplied by Albert Dock’s excellent Spice Lounge restaurant will be
available for tasting on both days.
Jerry Goldman, Managing Director of the Beatles Story said:-
“The important role that India’s culture had on The Beatles’ music
can never be understated.
This month-long
festival will be a true celebration!”
