Tim Cahill At The 'Childhood Heroes' Book Launch...

THE Newly opened Liverpool ONE was alive again to the sound of camera flashes and cheers as Tim Cahill arrived to launch a children's book called 'Childhood Heroes'. Sadly, the other famous name, Steven Gerrard, was not able to attended.

Both Steven Gerrard and Tim Cahill have teamed up with Childhood Heroes to bring out two personalised children’s books, which are proudly supported by Liverpool ONE. The books use the influence and appeal of sporting legends to draw their young fans into the reading experience.

The storylines are based around the individual child and are personalised not do they contain their own name but also the names of their friends, family and localities. This also extends to the illustrations where the central character has the child’s hair colour and style, eye colour and skin tone; the child becomes the ‘star’!

The aim of Childhood Heroes is to immerse and engage the child in the reading experience through relevance, by providing the child with exciting, high-quality reading material. The books are wonderfully illustrated, personalised to the child’s everyday lives and importantly use the influence of their favourite sporting heroes.

The idea is quite simple; people can go online to order,(www.childhoodheroes.co.uk) inputting the particulars of the child, be it boy or girl, (ideally aged between 5 and 12 years) such as hair colour, colour of eyes, friends names, parents or caregivers, the suburb the live and so on. The end result is a beautifully presented inspirational journey for the child with their favourite ‘Hero’.

Both Tim and Steven’s books tackle different themes and values, and as such, through the enhancement of the learning experience, the child is able to embrace the core values and messages the ‘Hero’ wishes to project.

The books retail at £16.95 with a pound sterling being donated from each book to the Rhys Jones Fund, in memory of the little ‘Evertonian’.

What a fabulous way to encourage a child to embrace reading and enhance their learning experience.

If you have a special child in your life, but don’t know all the personalised aspects of their everyday life, what about a ‘Gift Voucher’ instead? A great stocking filler for this Christmas and one that allows the child the wonderful fun of going online and building the book!

Tim Cahill said that:- "I am immensely proud to be a Childhood Hero as I am passionate about all children having the ability to read, and the opportunity to embrace learning. Our books are great fun, but also have total relevance to children’s everyday lives, and allow them to consider important issues and themes such as goal-setting and determination. I really enjoy involving my Premier League mates as future Heroes."

Steven Gerrard in a press statement said:- "I’m really excited to be involved with Childhood Heroes. My Merseyside rival and fellow Premier League player – Tim Cahill introduced the books to me and I could seehow passionate he was about increasing children’s education and as a parent, I could immediately see the fun and exciting way kids could enhance their reading experiences, through the personalised aspects of the story.

To have an opportunity to embrace reading through the love of football I believe is a win-win situation. I wish I’d had a book like this when I was younger with some of my ‘Heroes’ such as ‘The King’ – Kenny Dalglish or John Barnes, KOP legends!"

Nathan Butler, CEO Childhood Heroes comments:- "Childhood Heroes is dynamic and innovative in the way we enhance children’s education – what better association for our brand and product than with Liverpool ONE, the most dynamic and innovative retail precinct throughout the UK.

We thoroughly enjoy our relationship with Liverpool ONE and congratulate them once again on the recent phase two opening, which was a huge success for Liverpool. Childhood Heroes is proud to be associated with Liverpool ONE and look forward to our upcoming launch together."

Gemma from Mason Williams said:- "Liverpool ONE would like to thanks Zizzi restaurant and Shake About for their contribution to making this exciting event a success."
