Santa Lands In Southport
ON Sunday 23
November 2008, Dobbies Garden Center on Benthams Way, Southport had
a very special visitor fly in to open their Christmas festivities.
Yes, Santa was flown in via helicopter, specially for this event.
Despite the rain and the wind, the event was extremely well
attended, as one member of staff told us:- "We expected a large turn
out, but this is amazing. We did not expect so many people." The
event not only had Santa in his grotto, but also a dog slay and slay
dogs as well as a reindeer. Not forgetting the local Marshside Brass
Band and two choirs, one from St Mark's Church Of England Primary
School and the other from St Teresa's Club in Birkdale... Not
forgetting Queen's Court Hospice and also Mr Stix who entertained
the children. This was despite the bad weather a very entertaining
and enjoyable event. We have been informed that Santa will be in his
grotto on various dates on the run up to Christmas at the store in
Southport. Well done to all who took part. Click on

PUBLISHING DATE CHANGE
AS many of you
might have noticed, we have been going out late this month. This
has, as we explained last week, been caused by new systems being
added, but we have now decided to move the day the paper goes out
from Monday to Tuesday. We hope that this will make allow us more
time to edit our photographic coverage of events that take place
over the weekends. This should allow us then to deliver the quality
our readers now expect from our service and that extra bit more. If
you subscribe to our new news service, you will still get your daily
news emails via
Formby-Reporter.com
as normal. The recommended deadline for submissions for Southport
Reporter will remain Friday, with late submissions being considered
on the Monday before the edition does out. The new publishing date
will be on 2 December 2008. We would like to thank all our readers
and contributors for your help as we improve our services. As normal
we are still interested in finding out what news you want us to
cover, so that we can improve our news coverage in the areas you
want us to focus on. If you have any suggestions, about the types of
news we should cover, please contact our newsroom via
news24@southportreporter.com and we will consider
your suggestions.
