Comunitat
Valenciana in Liverpool
ON Tuesday, 25
November, the Valencia Region Tourist Board and the Spanish Tourist
Office, London, invited guests, primarily tour operators, travel
agents and press to a Valencian Evening in the splendidly lit St
George's Hall, Liverpool.
There, the President of Hoteliers, Costa
Blanca and many representatives from the regions' hotels and
attractions, were on hand to promote the region and to explain what
was on offer including beaches, golf courses, sailing, and spa
resources as well as a bewildering array of high class hotels. Also
the city of arts and sciences near Valencia plus a specialist
'magic' complex aimed primarily at children on the Costa
Blanca. There
was an interesting promotion and screen presentations too and an
intriguing ballet display, with music, was put on by the Ballet de
Teatres de la Comunitat Vanenciana. Delicious tapas and jellies with
regional wines were served.
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Steve
Rotheram was present for the early part of the evening, but
unfortunately had to leave for a previous engagement. Neil Peterson,
head of Liverpool Culture Company and Liverpool City Council was
also present.
The Tourism Minister for the Region gave an address, ably translated
by Christina Cunchillos (Latino Marketing). The Minister stated how
proud she was of her region and its beautiful countryside, climate,
people and of the invaluable work done by the representatives. She
thanked the City of Liverpool for its lovely welcome and went on to
say how much the two regions had in common, not least its friendly
people. She kindly refrained from contrasting the climate there with
the dismal weather we were experiencing on the night, which no doubt
had diminished the numbers attending. Consolidation in our area is
seen as very important as many visitors to Valencia come from
Liverpool and the Northwest. It is even more important during this
time of financial crisis. Just a thought - are we as proactive in
our promotions? She concluded with her thanks to all who had
attended.
