9 Year Old Cancer
Sufferer Still Plays Football...
ON Sunday 14 December 2008, two
local Under 10 football teams, Southport Trinity and the Southport
Football Club Junior, played the preliminary round of the Peter
Brown Craven Minor League Charity Cup at The Rookery, Southport and
they were joined by 9 year old James Oliver. Although probably not
well enough, James, who played for the teams, still wanted to see
his old team mates play in this fixture so his folks agreed to take
him down. Skilfully manoeuvring on his crutches, the 9 year old, who
is also an Everton Fan, still manages to kicks the ball around. This
despite having recently being diagnosed with cancer and having had a
leg amputated to help his fight with the bone cancer Osteoblast
Osteosarcoma. He has also been involved with fundraising
events to help with the Bone Cancer Research Fund. His plucky
response is an inspiration to all..
