Busy weekend for Liverpool

IT will be interesting to hear what success Liverpool ONE and indeed the City as a whole has had this weekend, in the run up to Christmas. By all appearances, it appeared to have been a very busy scene, with laden shoppers thronging the newly opened area. It looked as if confidence and promotion have paid off; hopefully justifying the optimism of a few short weeks ago. Chavasse Park's very attractive grotto, and the seasonal food stalls, certainly appealed to the young and young at heart. Despite the gloomy global scene, Liverpool has emerged from its reign as European Capital of Culture with a rediscovered confidence and sense of purpose, which must not be allowed to dissipate. Liverpool must play a major part of Britain's recovery, however long it takes. Our New Year's Resolution must be to hold tight to the successes of 2008 and to build on them accordingly.
