'Sound of Rum' Live at Drakes, Southport
THE band called 'Sound of
Rum' played live on Friday, 20 February 2009, to a packed
out venue at Drakes, Southport. The band from South East London has
a very US feel to its Hip Hop, Rap sound. The band comprises three
artists, a drummer, a guitarist and a singer. They are not original,
but they do have a very good quality sound and with the female
vocals do make for a softer hip-hop style than that of quite a few
of the bands I have seen of late. Interestingly, the band has just
pressed a limited run of 2000 copies of their debut album,
'Balance', so undoubtedly, I think you will be hearing more
about this band as the year goes on. If you missed the band playing
at Southport's live music venue Drakes, then why not visit their
website and tune your ears in
to their sample page. What was fantastic to see was the way they
drummed up the tension for Joe Driscoll, who we reviewed
last week. The band also took
to the stage and played along side the US artist to produce a
fantastic sound. I would like to see this band again in a bigger
venue to get a true picture of their stage skills.
