Paddy Ashdown Visited
Liverpool
ONE of the most interesting
British political leaders of the post-war generation was in the
newly opened Liverpool One, Waterstones Book Shop on Saturday, 2 May
2009. Rt Hon. Lord Paddy Ashdown GCMG KBE, a former Royal Marine
Commando and a founding member of the Liberal Democrats was pictured
here joking with the public, press and staff, at his book signing,
'A Fortunate Life' in the Liverpool store. One of the many people
who turned out to see him said:- "I was not expecting him to
be so friendly and down to earth. He often comes across in the media
as deadly serious and I am so happy I got to see his fun side!"
Another said:- "It is so refreshing. It is hard to imagine anything
less like a traditional modern politician." If you get a
chance to read this book, it is a fantastic insight into the man. "Paddy Ashdown, is in many people's minds, a man of action and
also one of human flaws and that is what makes him an ideal role
model for other polititians to follow. I just hope they make notes!"
one of the members of the public commented, just after they had
their book signed.
