Birkdale United 3 Ainsdale 1
Birkdale opened the scoring with Casterton’s 6th minute penalty.
Birkdale deservedly doubled their lead on 14 minutes with Casterton
scoring a second.
Throughout the rest of the first half Birkdale kept Ainsdale on the
back foot.
The second half was very different as right from the kick off
Ainsdale’s Bryce Ferns, with a perfectly weighted pass, put Conor
Bligh in behind the Birkdale defence to score his 10th goal of the
season.
Ainsdale continued to pile on the pressure with midfield battler
Ryan James creating chances for Joe Howard who went close on two
occasions and a Conor Bligh effort hit the post as Birkdale hung on.
Ainsdale’s fate was sealed 10 minutes from the end as Welford on the
break scored Birkdale’s third.
Late on Birkdale could have added to their tally but for a string of
outstanding saves from Ainsdale keeper Ethan Stroud.
Tarleton 4 Southport Juniors Black 0
The Tarleton pitch was heavy but had held up well despite two games
having already been played on it. Tarleton were quickly into their
stride, playing some flowing, passing football.
A good effort from Price hit the SJB post early on. Marshall and
Millward had good shots at goal.
Good work from Cropper saw him feed the ball to his fellow defender
Price. Price attacked down the wing and hit a curling shot that
deceived the SJB keeper to put the Blues in the lead.
A good effort from SJB was well saved by Nuttall in goal as the game
wore on but the Blues increased their lead following good work from
Marshall who kept the ball in play, cut inside the area and
unleashed an unstoppable shot in to the goal.
The second half saw some resolute defending by SJB but an incisive
pass from Cropper released Millward who slid the ball home past the
advancing SJB keeper to increase the lead.
The SJB keeper and captain made some great saves from Ditchfield,
Batey and Jones during the half but it was Marshall who notched the
fourth and final goal for the Blues.
Well done to both teams for playing in some difficult conditions.
SJB never gave up and played as well as some of the teams that are
higher in the division.

Southport Trinity 11 Jaguars Red 2
Trinity welcomed Jags Red to the Rookery after the pitch survived
the weeks rain.
Jags started the stronger getting the better of the early battles,
which saw them take the lead when a good run and cross from the left
was tucked away at the back post.
Jags then should have doubled their lead when a corner was headed
wide from yards out, this shocked Trinity into life.
Initially Will Jones tapped in from close range and then Jimmy
Cantrill added two. The best came after he calmly rounded the
keeper,
Will Jones then added his second with a great finish from the edge
of the box.
Jordan Seddon ended the half with a great run and finish.
Trinity came out for the second half more relaxed and played some
great football with Jordan Seddon and Aidan Darcy causing all sorts
of problems down the wings,
Jordan Seddon went on to finish his hat trick.
Aidan Darcy got amongst the goals after Will Jones sent him clear
and Lewis Harwood got himself on the score sheet finishing from a
tight angle
Despite this, the second half belonged to Liam Parker always the
provider but today scoring two cracking goals, his second by beating
two men before curling into the far corner.
Jags Red created a few chances in the second half and scored from
the penalty spot after a handball in the box but could not prevent
the final scoreline
Jimmy Cantrill was MOM for his awesome finishing. |
