PULLING POWER

CHANEL No 5 is the perfume with the most pulling power, according to a new survey commissioned by fragrance retailer Superdrug.  Women wearing this seductive scent have had more luck with men than anyone else, securing more dates and boyfriends.  And 1 in 10 women wearing Chanel fragrance have even met the man of their dreams when smelling of the feminine scent.

The 2nd perfume most likely to nail a date is Be Delicious by DKNY, closely followed by Ghost. In 4th place comes Eternity for Women by Calvin Klein, and Hugo Woman by Hugo is the 5th most likely to pull a man.  Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier, Cool Water by Davidoff and Angel by Thierry Mugler are also amongst the top 10 sexiest scents.

Superdrug’s poll of 3,000 women shows that 85% have been lucky enough to receive compliments from a bloke about their perfume. And 66% claim a complete stranger has told them they smell nice.

The average woman credits their choice of perfume for helping to secure approximately 6 different dates. And they reckon they have slept with four different men while wearing their favourite fragrance.  25% of women say a man they don’t know has asked them out after commenting on their perfume, and 82% think wearing perfume is essential when going out on a date.  More than half of those polled believe it is important for women to have a trademark scent, and 37% always buy the same perfume.

Steve Jebson, Commercial Director of Superdrug said:- “Fragrance has always been recognised as a real mood maker and women use it to add another dimension to their look and create mystique. This research underlines that to the majority of women the right fragrance can make or break their evening out.  A whopping 80% of women say that receiving fragrance as a gift is romantic which is heartening to the men who are already panicking about finding the perfect present for their girlfriend this Christmas.  Last Christmas our stores sold over 300,000 bottles of fragrance on Christmas Eve and this research proves that for last minute buys you can’t go wrong with a dash into Superdrug to pick up a great value perfume or gift set.  But, if you’re the jealous type and she wears one of the scents on the Perfume Pulling Power list just make sure that she only wears it when you’re out together.”

The survey shows that 57% of women are sure fragrances help them attract men when they’re out on the town, and 22% have perfumes they only wear when they go out looking for a date.  6 in 10 women say a man has asked them what perfume they wear – but 12% have also been unfortunate enough to be told their fragrance smells horrible.

FHT supports New National Register for Sports and Remedial Therapists

THE Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) is welcome sing the news that the Department of Healthand it‘s official voluntary regulator the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) is opening its register for sports therapists and remedial therapists.

Currently there is no form of regulation for sports sports therapists and remedial therapists which means they are not easily identifiable. The FHT will recommend is urging its members apply to join the to register when it opens which is expected to be at the end of January 2010. This will allow both professional and amateur athletes sports people and their trainers to choose their practitioners in the confidence that they are appropriately qualified and meet national standards of conduct and training.

In addition a new lead body for the industry, The Sports and Remedial Therapy Council (SRTC), is being formed with which the FHT is a founder professional association member. The Sports and Remedial Therapy Council is an independent, not for profit, professional forum that represents professional associations, training providers, educational establishments, awarding bodies and other sports and remedial therapy stakeholders.

Together both the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), as the Regulator and The Sports and Remedial Therapy Council (SRTC) as the lead body will announce the regulation of sports therapists and remedial therapists to sports employers such as Local Councils, Professional Sports Clubs and Governing Bodies. As a result employers should appreciate a single minimum standard for practitioners and a single official register for the protection of the public.

Commenting upon the changes to the industry, John French Chief Executive of the FHT says:- “These are exciting times for sports and remedial therapists which should pave the way for national standards of conduct, training and excellence. Since the launch of the Regulator the FHT has been recommending via lobbied the Regulator hard that the register is to open to its register to ensure that all sport therapists and remedial therapists to give have the recognition they deserve. The FHT is committed to representing its our member’s’ best interests and will work with the SRTC and the Regulator to ensure these are protected addressed.”

Bank Charges Announcement by BrunelFranklin.com

IN response to the Supreme Court ruling on Bank Charges, leading financial claims company BrunelFranklin.com, issues the following statement. Michael Goldstone, Chairman of BrunelFranklin.com, said that:- "The ruling may well be thought of as a blow to consumers who feel the banks should return their excessive charges without any further delay. However this case has been rumbling on now for some time and the fight is certainly far from over.  It is well possible that there will be other challenges to what most fair minded people believe to be the ridiculous charges levied.  If the actual cost of sending a letter and processing an unpaid item is in the region of £2.50 - £5.00 as many commentators believe, natural justice dictates that levying charges of up to £39.00 would constitute profiteering in most people's minds, absolutely 'unfair', I would say. Most fair minded people agree that the charges have been unfair.  Now it may only be a matter of time before true justice prevails and the charges are ultimately deemed unfair, by whatever route. In the meantime, the Stay on hearing Bank Charges claims has, we are told, been lifted. Consumers who believe they have claims against what they believe to be unfair charges, should continue to lodge their complaints. If the legal and other arguments continue, the date at which you lodged a complaint may become significant in the future.  To avoid the double injustice of effectively being time-barred at some future date, consumers need to act now to lodge claims that may eventually be heard."
