Birkdale S 2-0 Ormskirk B
Ormskirk B were the visitors to Carr lane in the first round of the
cup.
Birkdale S started well with most of the possession but a spirited
ormskirk side where giving it there all and holding Birkdale.
Flatt then shot from distance and although the ball was just running
out of pace, Welford was on the line to make sure it went over the
line to open the scoring.
Birkdale were starting to dominate the play and with five minutes of
the first half left Welford hit a 20 yard screamer from the sideline
that flew over the keeper to make it 2-0.
The second half was a scrappy affair but Birkdale held on to finish
2-0 winners

Ormskirk WE 0-6 Billinge
The match was played in thick fog so we are only guessing it was 6-0
but this was a controlled performance with Billinge using 16 players
to bring in boys who hadn't played recently and to also give lads
back from injury a game.
Ormskirk were determined and had a couple of useful players but
Billinge's physical dominance as well as greater skill on a very
poor pitch, won through in the end.
Billinge started brightly with the eccentric home keeper making two
wonderful saves in as many minutes to keep OWE in it.
Jonesy, allowed out of goal for this game as Ant returned from
injury, opened the scoring after a great delivery in loomed up at
him in the fog and hit his shin and the ball nestled in the net
after six minutes.
Fredders who was awesome today, despite not finding the scoresheet
himself, missed when clean through on ten minutes. Then Bradshaw
found the net after a couple of good saves by the home keeper after
Bibby's long throw was flicked on and he drove home after 18
minutes.
It was 3-0 shortly after as Billinge won a penalty after Fredders
was upended in the box and Bradshaw slotted cooly home.
Fredders again turned provider just before half time with a great
cross down the left for Bradshaw to rifle home.
The second half saw five substitutions which meant continuity wasn't
quite there and as such Billinge only managed to force an OG from
that man Fredders again and arguably the best pass of the game from
Matty O; fully 25 yards to feed in Fredders whose deft flick to
Deano, also on at half time, saw a cool finish into the far corner
of the new OWE goalkeeper’s net.
The pitch was very very heavy and did not allow flowing football,
nor did the dense fog but Billinge coped well with the conditions
and did well to pen OWE in their own half for 70 of the 80 minutes
of this game.
Goals: Bradshaw (3), Anderson (1) Jonesy (1) – and off his shin
through thick fog! OG (1).
