BOGUS SECURITY FIRM
WARNING
IN the past few weeks a number of members in the Sefton area
have reported that they have received phone calls from a firm
offering to sell them an intruder alarm for £1. The caller states
they are a Crime Prevention officer, doing a Crime Prevention
Survey, working for Crime Support or a Liaison Officer working for
the police. The police do not contact you by phone offering to sell
you alarms or any other crime prevention product. In one case the
caller went on to ask for details about their house and then more
personal details about their age etc. The crime prevention
advice is be very wary of giving personal details over the phone to
people who call you. Sefton Home watch said that they are pleased to
report that each one of the members who received the calls, acted in
the correct manner, and refused to answer their questions and cut
short the conversation. A home intruder alarm for £1? Remember
the saying:- "If it sounds too good to be true it probably
is." |
