WITNESS APPEAL - ROBBERY

Police have released CCTV stills of a man they want to speak to in
connection with an incident that occurred on Sunday, 10 January 2010
on Smithdown Road, Liverpool. At about 12:45am a 25 year old man was
struck from behind as he withdrew money from a cash machine at Total
Service Station. The victim had just entered his pin number when he
was struck with what is believed to be a hammer or similar
implement. The offender then withdrew money from his account. The
victim received minor injuries and was left very shaken following
the incident. The man pictured was seen leaving the Brook House
public house shortly before the incident and walking over to the
garage. Police believe he may be able to help them with their
enquiries. Police would like the man pictured, or anyone who

MURDER MOSCOW DRIVE, STONEYCROFT
MERSEYSIDE
Police have confirm a murder investigation was been launched after
the discovery of the body of an elderly woman in Stoneycroft on
Wednesday, 31 March.
Emergency services were called at approximately 10.40pm on Tuesday,
30 March 2010, to a report of a fire at a property on Gorsewood
Road, Belle Vale. The fire was extinguished by the fireservice and a
search was conducted of the property. No one was injured during the
incident. A short time later a 38 year old man from the local area
was arrested nearby on suspicion of arson.
Officers then conducted a search of the man's home address on Moscow
Drive at about 12.30am on Wednesday, 31 March 2010, where they found
the body of an elderly female believed to be in her 70s. The woman
had received an injury believed to have been caused by a knife.
Detectives are continue to investigate and a Home Office A post
mortem has confirmed that the victim murdered at a house on Moscow
Drive, Stoneycroft, died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
The woman has not yet been formally identified.
The 38 year old man arrested on suspicion of arson is also to be
questioned about the death of this woman. He remains in custody.
Detective Superintendent Ian Mulcahey said:- "At this early
stage of the investigation we are working to piece together what has
happened. The victim was found at the property this morning and we
are appealing for anyone who has any information to come forward. We
are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who
has any information to get in touch with us."
Both scenes have been cordoned off for forensic examinations and
house-to-house enquiries are on-going. Hi-visibility patrols have
been stepped up in both areas to help reassure the public.
