Good Friday 2010
THE annual Walk of Witness in
Formby took place and was organised by the Churches Together In
Formby. There was a very large turn-out of Christians from the
following churches in Formby: Our Lady of Compassion (RC), St Anne’s
(RC), Holy Trinity (C of E), Formby URC, Formby Christian
Fellowship, Formby Methodist Church, St Peter’s (C of E), St
Jerome’s (RC), Redgate (C of E), St.Peter’s (C of E), St Lukes, St Michael’s
(C of E) and St Stephen’s (C of E).
The Walk of Witness was through the
centre of Formby Village to the Swimming Pool area, where the
walkers gathered round a hillock on which the Crosses of the various
churches taking part assembled. A open air service was then held led
by Dian Vernon, the Chairman, the Reading from St Luke 23: 32-49
from Jim McKie, followed by a Homily by the Moderator of the URC,
Rev Howard Sharp, then Prayers by the Rev Sue Smith, of St Michael’s
and St Stephens, and the service concluded with the Blessing by the
Rev Howard Sharp.
The Holy Trinity Workshop and the Pool Cafe were open for fellowship
and refreshments after the service.
A very sincere, special thanks to the
Police who made it possible for the Procession to proceed safely
down the centre of the street, free of traffic and thank you to the
organisers which enabled local Christians to express their faith on
one of our main days.
Counting the days to...
"A Liverpool Pageant of Power"
MANY Merseysiders are counting
the days to what will be an amazing show, during a free festival
from 22 May to the 29 May 2010, during which Formula One racing cars
will roar through Liverpool's streets , thanks to a deal swung by
the Duke of Westminster's company Grosvenor Estates... To see what
it could be like, go to our archived report about the Red Bull City
Limits Belfast Show, by clicking on

the events in May 2010 go to the events official website:-

Sunnymede School is
Celebrating 50 years!
THIS year marks 50 years since
Sunnymede School was founded. With independent Schools in the UK
experiencing a drop in numbers, Sunnymede is also experiencing
similar changes. This is not only down to the effects of the
recession, but also other factors, like a fall in the birth rate, as
a result the school will be opening its doors for a Open Day / Fun
Day over 32 April 2010 to 24 April 2010, running from 3pm to 6:30pm.
Full details will follow shortly.
