WIN
HANDS-FREE KIT AT ROADS POLICING EVENT IN HALFORDS, SOUTHPORT
MOTORISTS are
being given the chance to drive away with a prize of a hands-free
car kit at a road safety event in Southport on Saturday, 5 June
2010.
Officers from Merseyside Police's roads policing team have joined
together with Halfords to promote road safety advice. In particular,
officers will be warning drivers of the dangers of not wearing
seatbelts and using their mobile phones while behind the wheel.
The roads policing team will be at Halford's car park on Meols Cop
Retail Park from 10am to 4pm to give people road safety advice and
answer any questions about roads policing issues.
Members of the public will also have the chance to take a close-up
look at a car and motorbike used by the roads policing team.
As part of the event, officers will be looking to video people's
views on roads policing. Halfords have offered to supply and fit the
prize of a hands-free kit for those who take part in the short
survey in the video diary room in Merseyside Police's publicity pod.
Sgt Paul Mountford, who has helped to organise the event, said:-
"This is part of our ongoing work to help keep the roads of
Merseyside safe and collision free. With the forthcoming World Cup
officers will be out in force as a deterrent to those thinking of
flouting the rules of the road and events like these help us to
promote our message of safe driving. The number of people killed or
seriously injured on the roads of Merseyside during the last World
Cup was double that we normally see in June and July and we will do
all that we can to ensure people remember the World Cup for all the
right reasons and not for carnage on the roads." |
Celebs Support the North's First Barnardo's Children's Store in
Liverpool
THE Barnardo’s
shop at 42 Whitechapel, Liverpool, which specialises in top quality
babies’ and children’s clothes, toys and accessories is expecting
donations from celebrities across the UK, all keen to show their
support.
Barnardo’s has called on its celebrity supporters to trawl through
their children’s wardrobes and donate quality used and un-used items
that belonged to their little ones.
Actress and Barnardo’s supporter Tina Hobley was one of the first to
answer the call.
Mother-of-three Tina has just become mum to baby Orson. Tina said:-
“This is a fantastic idea, one that I’m sure will be a great
success with parents. The shop is already an Aladdin’s cave of
quality clothes and accessories for babies and children that
shoppers can buy at a faction of high street prices. By
donating to the shop or buying one of the top quality items, people
are helping to support vulnerable children in Liverpool. That’s
surely got to be worth a visit.”
Barnardo’s Head of Retail North, Paul Guest, said:- “Liverpool
people have shown fantastic support for Barnardo’s over the years so
it makes perfect sense for us to open the north’s first children’s
store in the city. The shop is offering top quality items for
newborns right up to early teenage years – come and have a look you
won’t be disappointed!”
The shop needs a regular supply of donations of quality goods for
children. Volunteers are also required to be part of the new
venture. Please drop donations into the shop or contact the store
on:- 0151 707 9247 for more information. |
