Top up more than your
tan this summer
SO you’re packed and ready to hit
the airport, but have you remembered everything? Sunscreen, shorts
and sandals may be the only things on your mind, but why not take
the time to donate blood before you go?!
There is a constant need for blood, especially over the summer
months when stocks tend to take a dip as people jet off on holiday.
Hospitals throughout the country rely on 7,000 units of blood every
day to help treat people with a range of illnesses like cancer,
aenemia or those who need blood in an emergency.
Travellers heading to more exotic climates like Africa, Asia or
Central and South America, where Malaria is prevalent, can be
prevented from donating for up to 6 months after they return to the
UK. So it’s vital that people give before they go to keep blood
stocks healthy over the summer period.
Anyone aged over 17, weighing more than 50 kg (7 stone 12 lbs) and
in general good health could potentially start saving lives by
becoming a blood donor. To book an appointment call the new
‘Donor Line’ on:- 0300 123 23 23.

World
Cup - Arion in Ainsdale
IT was a quite pub at the Arion
in Ainsdale on Sunday, 27 June 2010, as many of their customers
looked on in horror and some even walked out to get food instead of
watching England as they played their worst game ever. If you did
not know it was the World Cup 2010, England v Germany that left
England going home and the UK out of the World Cup. Other than that,
the pub put on a fantastic BBQ, even if England dampened the party
mood...
