Parking Ticket
Madness
OVER the last few weeks we have
had complaints about parking tickets in Sefton, with the focus being
on Southport Town Centre. Our editor as shocked to see one of these
'bookings' happening. The large digger was being
collected by works a on this week when traffic wardens booked the
car of the digger driver for not having pay and display ticket. The
fact that they told the wardens that it was a workers car and that
was allowed to in that space did not stop them. A few days later a
camera crew filming at the luxury The Vincent hotel on Lord Street
where also booked! "This is getting out of hand and it
is putting people off coming into Southport. The parking wardens
need to think more, before issuing a ticket." said a local
shop keeper who has had problems lately when getting delivery's in
the morning. "It is not just everyday and work verticals that
are targeted, as a few emergency vehicles are also threatened with
tickets! It is no wonder why the town is slowly loosing its
shops...." another business told us. Sadly we can not
confirm Sefton MBC's views on this matter as they have again refused
to talk to us. If you have had parking problems, do let us
know by emailing us at
news24@southportreporter.com and
also let us know what you think about parking in and around Sefton.
Your World Cup
Disaster Comments
|
"WE have the worst team ever.
It is bad for the UK as we needed a win to lift or spirits.
The team was just rubbish."
"Why can't we play well in the World Cup?"
"What can you say?"
"Wimbledon anyone?"
"Well England lived up
to its reputation..."
"Why do we bother
following them? Anyone for an England Flag?"
"I don't care as I hat
football!"
"England is a joke and so
is our football team!" |

Armed Forces Day At
Tesco Southport
AT Tesco Store, Kew on Southport,
27 June 2010, Stephen and Area Co-Ordinator Christina Parfitt had
their first official event for the SOS Appeal in the area.
"What a wonderful day it proved to be! The people of Southport were
very generous, as we raised the sum of £319.47 for the Appeal during
the few hours we were at the store, with people buying key fobs,
badges and wrist bands as they showed interest in what the Charity
is all about, where the monies go, and what we do with the shoe
boxes/comfort packs, and where they are sent." Christina
Parfitt commented to us after the event.
"As we explained to all those who took an interest, the parcels are
made up of goods that our Troops have asked for, and go to military
personnel, to those serving without families, they wouldn't
necessarily receive these wonderful parcels from home, the injured
and of course those on the front line." Stephen added.
Also attending the event was MP John
Pugh, who showed his support by calling into the store. "He
was completely interested in the Charity and the work being done,
thanking us for all our hard work on behalf to our Troops in
Afghanistan." said Christina Parfitt.
"Well known TV personality and International Clairvoyant, Derek
Acorah, also showed his support for the Appeal, and he too thanked
us for the work we are doing for the SOS Appeal. Also local
resident, Colin Hughes (Piper), called into the store after taking
part in the Armed Forces Day Parade in Southport, and was thrilled
to see us there collecting for the Appeal." Stephen added.
"All of us wish to thank everyone
at Tesco's for their help and support, making us feel welcome in the
store and if anyone can help with other events, please contact us
via emailing:-
southport@supportoursoldiers.co.uk
or calling us on:- 078146322431 (after 6pm weekdays)."
concluded Christina. For more information about the
