WHEELS IN MOTION FOR EVERTON SCHOOL
PUPILS,
teachers and community leaders gathered at the building site of the
Faith School in Everton to celebrate taking delivery of the new
school minibus.
The school, which is currently under construction following a
successful campaign by the local community to secure the new school
for the area, is hoping to be the catalyst for more regeneration in
the area.
The vehicle, which was purchased with help from Conlon Construction
who are currently building the new school, is a great boost to
school resources and the teaching staff and local community already
have plans for putting it to good use.
Ann Roach, chair of West Everton Community Council commented:-
“We started this journey with Conlon Construction many months ago
when the building was first given the go ahead, and it’s fantastic
that they have donated to the purchase of the minibus which will
benefit the whole community and enable us to get on the road and
literally continue our journey.”
Headteacher Sister Moira Meeghan adds:- “The children are so
excited about the new minibus, they want to go everywhere in it. We
are delighted that Conlon Construction have made this investment
into our school and our community – site manager Gordon Mackenzie
has become part of our team and we’re working closely together to
get the school of our dreams.”
Maureen Boland, director at Conlon Construction added:- “This
project is fantastic to be involved in and when the development is
completed later in the year it will look great. Everyone from Faith
School is so enthusiastic and dedicated, and we are delighted to
have been able to contribute to the purchase of the minibus, which
will go some way to help them to bring their plans and ideas to
fruition.
An added bonus to this project has been the opportunity to recruit
two members of the local community, that were unemployed, into the
team. Dean and Darren have been a great asset to the development and
have enjoyed being a part of a project that is so important to the
regeneration of the area.” |
