Liverpool 1 Gets A New Holiday Look - Part 2
YOU need to go
shopping, but it’s the summer holidays and the kids fancy sand water
and fun. Liverpool 1 has a great solution called 'Paradise in
the Park'. You can enjoy the wide range of shops and, until
31 August 2010, the children can have their wishes granted too. 260
tonnes of beach sand were delivered on Monday, 18 July and the area
at the top of Chavasse Park has now been transformed into a tropical
playground for all. It opened to the public on July 22, and now
offers a big, safe ‘beach’ and a shallow water play area of 100
square metres, plus palm trees, and deck chairs, with drinks and
barbeque food on hand. There is music too; live and disco. If you
take your photos carefully enough, your friends will be sure that
you’ve been to the Caribbean! We visited on the first day, relaxed
by the pool in the sunshine and really chilled out. Great! If you
wish to be more ‘lively’, there is a programme of activities,
including Beach volleyball and Beach Fitness but you have to be an
early bird for these. There is tempting programme of evening
entertainments as well. Also on the site is a funfair, provided by
Mellor entertainments, with stalls and rides to suit all; from Pony
Express and Canoes for the smaller visitors to inflatable slides,
Spinning Barrels and Crazy Golf to Bungee Trampoline, Bumper Boats
and, for the more adventurous, Shark Bite; the UK’s biggest mobile
roller coaster, standing 20m high and with 40m of track. This was
drawing large numbers on its inaugural day. Rides are paid for by
pre-bought tokens at 50p each, with smaller rides averaging 3 tokens
and the rest 6-8. Paradise in the Park seems to be an innovative and
appealing way to divert young minds during the holidays but with
something for older members too. Go and experience if for
yourselves! To see our photographic coverage last week click on
