Cannabis farm, Knowsley Road, Southport
MERSEYSIDE
Police are investigating after a cannabis farm was discovered at a
flat on Knowsley Road in Southport. The cannabis plants were
discovered by a council officer at the property on 27 September
2010. Police officers were called to the scene to determine
the extent of production of the Class B drug. Neighbourhood
Inspector for the area, Tony Jones, said officers welcomed the help
of the public in the crackdown on cannabis production and drug crime
in general. He said:- "This discovery on Knowsley Road
means more drugs have been taken off the streets and we are grateful
for any information we get from the public to help us in this. If
you see anything suspicious, such as people coming and going from a
flat that appears to be empty, or people taking large amounts of
compost into a property, they should contact the police straight
away - it could be vital." If you would like to pass

A group of top
Dutch health professionals descended upon a Merseyside hospital this
week as part of an annual visit to study Europe’s best methods of
caring for patients.

Netherlands, visited University Hospital Aintree. The visit is part
of an annual development programme, where the group visit an area of
health care excellence in Europe. The group chose University
Hospital Aintree to look at its innovative information technology
which includes its new electronic patient records system. Based on

areas.
Dr John Hollingsworth from the Emergency Department at Aintree
said:- “We always aim to provide the best care we can at Aintree,
which includes using the best technology and the most advanced
systems to help us deliver quality care. To be recognised in another
country for this, and to host a visit of Dutch health care
professionals, speaks volumes about the high level of service we are
delivering at Aintree.
Bob Smith, a Medical Manager who was on the visit, said:-
“Each year we visit an area of healthcare excellence in Europe. We
were told about Aintree Hospital in Liverpool and how staff were
using technology to help patients; by reducing the amount of time
they had to spend in hospital, but also the quality of the service
they received. Our visit today has definitely given us plenty of
useful ideas to take pack to Holland and use in our own medical
practices.”
Ward Priestman, Director of Informatics said:- “We have always
been proud of the innovative culture here at Aintree, we are now
seeing levels of Information Technology Excellence that is world
class and enabling us to treat our patients in a safer and more
