Pets at Home Merseyside aims to raise even more funds for local
animal charities
THE team at
Pets at Home in Merseyside are aiming to raise more money for its
charity, Support Adoption For Pets, during a nationwide campaign to
raise £50,000 over 7 days.
Support Adoption For Pets national fundraising drive will run from
Friday, 8 October 2010 to Friday, 15 of October 2010 and will see store teams holding a
number of pet adoption workshops, along with fun activities to raise
awareness and funds for a variety of deserving animal charities.
The pet workshops have been designed to increase both awareness of
pet adoption as well as knowledge of how to care for pets looking
for a new home.
Along with the workshops, the Pets at Home Bromborough, Aintree,
Speke and Southport stores will be organising a range of fundraising
activities that will give customers the opportunity to win some
fantastic prizes.
For a £1 donation, the National Raffle gives customers the chance to
win prizes such as free pet food for a year, an in-store trolley
dash, Pets at Home gift vouchers, a free five years’ subscription to
‘Your Dog’ or ‘Your Cat’ magazine or a 2011 Pet Calendar.
The raffle will be drawn on Monday, 8 November 2010.
A spokesperson said:- “We’re really looking forward to our
fundraising week as it gives us a chance to raise awareness of pet
adoption and raise money for Support Adoption For Pets, which will
in turn be donated to local animal welfares and rescues at the same
time.
We held our last fundraising week in April, and we’re really keen to
beat what we raised last time.
Customers can give as little or as much as they can spare to help us
support local charities who are working so hard to find loving new
homes for pets within the community.”. |
Barnardo’s Needs Your Winter Woolies!
STAFF
at local Barnardo’s shops are filling the rails with winter woolies
– and are appealing for more donations at the same time.
Stocks of winter clothes – such as jumpers and coats - are flying
off the rails at the Barnardo’s shops in Allerton, Bebington,
Bootle, Bromborough, Chester, Crosby, Frodsham, Heswall, Huntscross,
Huyton, Liverpool city centre, St Helens, Old Swan, Whitechapel and
Woolton, as the weather turns colder.
Shoppers not only have the chance to buy quality items at bargain
prices at their local Barnardo’s store but are also doing their bit
to help the region’s vulnerable children and young people. All money
raised in the shops is ploughed back into supporting local
Barnardo’s projects, such as Action With Young Carers in Liverpool
city centre, which supports young people who provide care to another
family member who has a physical illness/disability including mental
ill health, sensory disability or has a problematic use of drugs or
alcohol.
Barnardo's works with thousands disadvantaged children, young people
and their families in the North West, providing support for children
affected by issues like poverty, neglect, disability and abuse.
Paul Guest, Barnardo’s Assistant Director Retail North, said:-
“We need people to dig out any good winter warmers, such as
quality coats and jumpers, and pop them down to their local
Barnardo’s store. We’d also welcome any accessories and toys.
Not only does the money raised from the sale of these items go to
fund our work with disadvantaged children, young people and families
in the area, but our shops also give local families the opportunity
to buy warm clothes and Christmas presents at an affordable price.” |
