Fusion 21 Secures First Success!

Twelve long term unemployed men have secured permanent employment thanks to Fusion21. This follows their completing a five-week training course organized by Fusion21 Skills.
The twelve, selected by a competitive interview process, and then had to undergo an intensive five-week course to become trained as window fitters. The training involved a two-week course to get them ready for a work environment covering issues such as health and safety. This was followed by an intensive three-week job specific training course run by TEST a leading training organisation in window fitting.

The successful completion of the course is only the first step for the twelve apprentices, as they will receive ongoing support organized by Fusion21 Skills. This will include advice and support as the apprentices continue to work towards their NVQs.

Once fully trained all apprentices all gained permanent jobs with contractors who work for Fusion21 partners. This was a possible thanks to the unique way that Fusion21 procurement has brought together the expertise and economic muscle to offer the contractors work-smoothed contracts. This in turn enables the contractors to offer employment opportunities to those trained through the Fusion21 Skills programme.

Mike Brogan, Interim chief Executive Fusion21 said “we’re delighted with the success of the first twelve Fusion21 apprentices in completing what is a tough and demanding course and securing full time employment. This shows what can be achieved by Fusion21 and we look forward to training many more successful recruits in the up coming months.”
