POLICE APPEAL – WANTED ON RECALL TO PRISON
GWENT Police
are appealing for information to locate a Caldicot man who was
recalled to prison after breaching his licence.
Officers now have age progression images of Keith Turner which
experts have produced in a bid to assist with efforts to trace him.
On 23 September 2000 the 57 year old failed to appear at Reading
Crown Court and a warrant was issued by the court for his
arrest. He was due to appear after being charged, by Thames Valley
Police, with an alleged offence of attempting to obtain property by
deception by falsely issuing four cheques to the total value of
£11781.46, between 20 January to 24 January 2000. Following his
failure to appear the Home Office revoked his licence and he was
recalled to prison.
Keith Turner had been on life licence since his release from prison
on 29 March 1993, having served 19 years.
He had been serving a life sentence
after being convicted of the manslaughter of his mother and sister
(who died in November 1973) at Newcastle Crown Court on 19th
February 1975. Following his release from prison he moved to the
Caldicot area in 1998 after spending a period of time in the Bristol
area.
Members of the Gwent Police Major Incident team are now reviewing
his case and although he is still circulated as wanted to
all police forces across the UK former associates of his have been
revisited and it’s hoped that the age progression photos,
demonstrating what he may look like today, will assist in tracing
him even if he has given himself a new identity.
He is described as approximately 5’7” tall with blue eyes and a
northern accent. At the time of disappearance he had balding grey
hair, a thin beard and wore glasses.
He has ‘KEITH’ tattooed on his right forearm.
At the time of his disappearance he had lost weight due to an
alleged illness, but prior to this he was of medium build.
Keith Turner is originally from the Newcastle area but following
enquiries we know that he has also frequented/ has contacts in
Birmingham, Reading and Slough, Bristol, Caldicot, Spain, South
Africa and France.
He has been, and remains, circulated as
wanted on the police national computer (PNC) since 2000 and
enquiries have also been made on an international basis to locate
him.
Anyone with any information regarding
his whereabouts is asked to call Gwent Police on:- 01633 838111 or
Crimestoppers on:- 0800 555 111.

surprised by their IQ score. A high IQ can also be beneficial when
applying for university or for progression in the job market; it can
make you stand out as a candidate.’

members in Liverpool. The society welcomes people from all walks of
life, with the objective of enjoying each other’s company and
participating in a range of social and cultural activities.
The society’s aims are to provide a stimulating intellectual and
social environment for its members; to identify and foster human
intelligence for the benefit of humanity; and to encourage research
into the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence.
BOGUS POLICE COLD CALLERS
CRIME
Prevention Officer, Constable Kevin Kehoe gives the following
advice:- "On Wednesday, 15 December 2010,
officers at Southport Police Station received several calls from
Southport residents stating that they had been called by 'crime
prevention officers' who were working in the Southport area and were
offering free house alarms. One resident was told that an
'Inspector' would call them back to discuss the offer.
Callers also informed residents that they had been specially
selected as there has been an increase in crime in the PR8 & PR9
areas. One resident was told that his alarm was not up to standard,
as it did not contact the police.
All of the residents were left with the impression that the calls
were from Merseyside Police.
These calls are NOT made by Merseyside Police officers and obviously
residents should be careful when taking telephone calls offering
crime prevention services such as free house alarms and or home
security surveys.
If you have received a call from someone who led you to believe was
a police crime prevention officer or if you do require further crime
prevention advice, please contact Constable Kevin Kehoe on:-
0151 777 3458."
Letters to the
editor:- "Magull North Rail Station"
"IT seems that
confusion reigns in the Lib-Dem family. Councillor Cliff Mainey (Sudell
Ward), speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside (15th December) said his
party (the Lib-Dems) “did some investigation and then found it (Magull
North Railway Station) was never on Merseytravel’s capital project
list – So how can something that’s not on a project list be
cancelled?” Councillor Mainey’s wife, Councillor Sylvia
Mainley (Sudell Ward), in a November-December 2010 Lib-Dem Focus
publication states, “...let’s not forget that the Tories tried to
pinch the money for the station (Maghull North) some time ago so
they could use it in their Crosby heartland!”.
Councillor Sylvia Mainey then referred to a previous statement she
made November 2008, “Merseytravel issue a briefing to local
Councillors which optimistically says the new station could be open
as early as December 2010.” Councillor Sylvia Mainey concludes
her Focus article by stating “...with the Tories trying to take
money for Crosby and Labour saying the project has been killed off,
it has taken the Lib-Dems to keep the project going”. I really
believe Mr & Mrs Mainey should sit down together and decide “Was it
Bill or was it Ben”. Let me clarify where the plans for
Maghull North train station are today. At a Rail Services Committee
held on 17 November 2010 I moved a proposal that I would meet
the Coalition Rail Minister in order to request a special rail grant
to build Maghull North Station. Does that sound like I killed it
off? The position of the Labour Party is crystal clear. Because of
the massive cuts in public transport funding by the Lib-Dems and
their Tory chums, all non-contracted transport schemes including
Maghull North have been put on hold, hence, my reason to
request a special rail grant in order to go ahead with building
Maghull North Station. The only political parties who are killing
off transport schemes on Merseyside are the Con-Lib coalition by
their ideologist dogma and as Al Jolson once said “You ain’t seen
nothin yet”." Councillor Mark Dowd, OBE, Chair, Merseyside
Integrated Transport Authority.
