JON and Alan Minshaw, who
are both from the Merseyside area, took over what was a hard fought,
to dominant class, winning at Sunday, 3 July 2011's, E-type
Challenge (the 2nd of 2 races) at a sunny Brands Hatch. Jon Minshaw
lead from the line in his white number 33 machine and despite some
serious pressure never relinquished the position in the Class A
race, his son Alan Minshaw fought through the pack to take a class B
win in the number 34 red racer. In Sunday's 25 minute race Jon
didn't quite manage to lap Minshaw jnr, only passing him through
Druids on the slowing down lap.
The E-type challenge was created to celebrate the
50th anniversary of the E-Type Jaguar this year; the E-type is one
of the most iconic sports cars ever built, and described by Enzo
Ferrari himself as the most beautiful! The entries are limited to
E-types of 3.8litres and smaller that were built before 1966 and
hold FIA competition eligibility papers. Class 1 is the more
extremely modified but must still comply to the original
Homologation paper number 100, whilst class B are more standard have
to only comply to paper number 34.
